GAMBLING TRIP FLYER PRINTED AT CITY EXPENSE AND SPONSORED BY CITY COUNCILMAN SAM RANDOLPH
3-4-08

THANKS to the concerned citizen who emailed this website the FREE CASINO TRIP FLYER distributed by Councilman Sam Randolph which we understand was printed at City Hall at City expense on City bought paper. We are calling on Councilman Randolph to explain how he justifies a gambling trip to Mississippi. WAS THE BUS PAID FOR WITH CITY FUNDS?

We are told that the criteria for getting a FREE TRIP TO GAMBLE in Mississippi was that passengers had to promise Randolph that they would vote FOR the Bond Issue on February 26th, which was only 3 days after the casino trip. We are also told that residents of other Wards were permitted to take the FREE TRIP if they promised to support the Bond Issue. Apparently not everyone was entirely truthful with the gambling Councilman because the person who furnished us the flyer said he did not vote for the Bond Issue, even though he took the free trip!

While we disagree with Council members taking gambling trips to Mississippi, we would not be so upset if Randolph HAD NOT printed these flyers at City Hall and used them to promote Mayor Perkins' Bond Issue. This was just one misuse of City funds, employees, equipment, and facilities by those who supported the Bond Issue. SHAME ON THEM ALL!

Is Randolph the best that Ward 5 can furnish to rule over the people of Selma? We do not think so and hope some concerned citizens will challenge him in the August election.
