For those who don't travel Laurel Ave (behind the old McDonalds), the residents had an unexpected surprise on Wednesday 2-7-07. When they left home that morning the street was smooth and normal as it always has been. When they returned home they experienced quite a change.
Bennie Ruth Crenshaw, without Council approval, called Public Works and had 6 inch high speed bumps installed. In the Council work session it was brought to public attention and the speed bumps were removed the next day.
There are several issues here:
1) Does Crenshaw think she has the authority to override Council decisions?
2) Does she think she is the final authority?
3) Does she think she doesn't have to answer for her mistakes?
4) Does she think the people do not know that she directed Tommy Smith of Public Works to install them then place the blame on HIM when they had to be removed?
Tommy, you're bearing the blame for her this time. Don't feel bad, there are alot of people taking falls for Queen Benny's arrogance and power trips. Unfortunately, King James won't ask for an explanation from the Queen. This is one more problem they can blame you for if the need arises to replace you. Watch Your Back! They have already appointed Henry Hicks to a position that should have been yours.
Who will pay for the 4 people who spent all day putting down the unauthorized speed bumps? Who will pay for the materials that were scraped up and thrown away?
Queen Crenshaw "should" be required to take the money, for her ineptness, out of her discretionary funds and reimburse the Public Works Department. This is only fair to the citizens.
