MAYOR PERKINS: "BITTEN IN THE BUTT" BY HIS OWN ACTIONS

The old cliché is that we need to be careful what we do because sometimes our actions come back to "bite us in the butt". That has happened to Mayor Perkins as some of his earlier actions have now reaped the whirlwind which he has sowed!
Listening to the Mayor at the Council meeting Monday night via radio, we heard his impassioned plea for young thugs to stop the mugging of women. WE WONDERED WHY ALL OF A SUDDEN HE HAS TAKEN AN INTEREST IN WOMEN BEING MUGGED SINCE MANY WOMEN HAVE BEEN MUGGED ALL OVER TOWN SINCE HE BECAME MAYOR... THEN WE FOUND OUT WHY HE HAS SUDDENLY BECOME CONCERNED. PERKINS FAVORITE COUNCIL MEMBER, BENNIE RUTH CRENSHAW'S SISTER WAS MUGGED BY TWO BLACK THUGS LAST WEEKEND AND CRENSHAW IS GIVING POLICE DETECTIVES HELL TILL THEY CATCH WHO DID IT.
PERKINS MISTAKEN BELIEF THAT SOCIAL PROGRAMS WILL SOLVE THE CRIME PROBLEM is part of the reason crime is out of control in Selma! NOW HIS MISTAKEN NOTIONS ABOUT THE CAUSE OF CRIME and his inaction in dealing with crime have come back to "bite him in the butt" with Crenshaw's sister being mugged!
HIS OTHER ACTION which has come back to haunt him is an action he took soon after becoming Mayor. DON'T THINK WE HAVE FORGOTTEN HOW HE GAVE SANCTUARY IN HIS OFFICE AND WOULD NOT LET THE POLICE ARREST A COUPLE OF YOUNG THUGS INVOLVED IN SHOOTINGS AT GWC HOMES! NOW, Perkins is urging criminals and thugs NOT TO RESIST ARREST.
WHO is responsible for Perkins being elected in 2000? ROSE SANDERS! WHO is telling people they can resist arrest? ROSE SANDERS, Perkins mentor! Someone is going to get killed resisting arrest!
SO NOW THE MAYOR, who turned a blind eye to crime being out of control in this city for nearly six (6) years and who gave sanctuary in his office to thugs, has seen these actions come back to "bite him in the butt"!!!
