Pant Types
Y-fronts
Once a common choice amongst the male population, Y-fronts are now dying out and are a fairly rare species of pants. Characterised by an upside-down 'Y' shape on the front, these pants are typically white.
Boxers
Boxer shorts are nowadays the top choice for a lot of men, and are probably the most varied type of pants in existence. Boxer shorts offer comfort for the wearer without the restriction y-fronts and briefs may cause. Generally there are two main types: 1. loose fitting ones made of cotton material, often patterned by stripes or chequered. 2. tighter fitting ones made out of a stetchy material. 'Calvin klein' pants with their characteristic elastic waist are usually of this sort.
Knickers/Panties
A common type of pants for women. They tend to be plain in design but some may have additional features such as lace and ribbon. Panties are generally the 'everyday' pants for women, as they are consiered by many as the most comfortable female pants out there.
Briefs/Underpants
These are really the male equivalent of panties. They are very similar to Y-fronts, but lack the 'Y' design on the front of them. They come in almost every colour, although pink is usually avioded for obvious reasons.
Thongs
Thongs are fast becoming a popular choice for women. There are two main reasons for this; 1. they can be worn under tight fitting trousers or skirts to avoid a visable panty-line and 2. they can be worn to attract male attention. However, the style of thongs means that they are very vulnerable to attack by 'wedgies' (see pant terminology).
