The Quest for the Dragonballs

Son Goku's Origin
In the beginning, a low-class Saiya-jin called Bardock has a son named Kakarotto. Seeing that he will be of no use due to his low fighting abilities, Kakarotto is sent to exterminate life from Planet Earth. Meanwhile, Bardock and his team see that Freeza is going to betray them, and decide to fight against him. Freeza launches a huge blast at all the Saiya-jin, killing all but four. Somewhere deep in space, a space pod crashes on Earth. A man called Son Gohan finds Son Goku inside it, and accepts him as a grandson. Thus, Toriyama’s epic story Dragonball begins…

Goku's Accident

When Goku regains consciousness, he turns out to be an incredibly strong and evil child. He constantly makes life hard for Gohan. However, one day he accidentally falls off a high cliff, and lands square on his skull! Son Gohan thinks that he is dead, but Goku soon wakes up. However, it seems that the fall had a huge effect on him, as he is now the most soft-spoken and polite child. Goku also forgets about his origin, the Saiya-jin. His immense strength remains with him, however. Anyway, some days later, Goku is out at night and he happens to gaze at the full moon. At this, Son begins to go through an incredible transformation – hair grows out of his skin, he grows fangs, his eyes turn red, and he grows to a height of about a hundred feet. Son Gohan cannot believe it, and he runs for his life. However, Goku doesn’t seem to be in control, and he accidentally steps on Gohan, killing him. The next morning, Son goes back to his original form, forgetting everything that happened and surprised to find his grandfather dead.

Son Goku meets Bulma

After living in the wild until he was twelve years old, Son Goku had become very strong. Every day he worshipped a four-star dragonball; the most valued possession of his grandfather. One day, he bumps into a teenage girl who calls herself Bulma. She explains to Goku the power of the dragonballs – that they can grant any wish when all seven are brought together. Son Goku and Bulma befriended, and went on their journey for the Dragonballs. The next morning, Goku is exercising when he bumps into Turtle, a lost turtle. Turtle tells him that he is lost, and Goku decides to help him. When a bear blocks their path, Son Goku easily defeats him. After getting home, Turtle arrives with his master, Kame-senn’in. Kame-sennin decides to thank Goku and gives him Kinto-Un, a flying cloud. He explains that only one with a pure heart can ride Kinto-Un. To Bulma, he presents a Dragonball, which he had found washed up on his beach.

Oolong the Terrible

After days of wandering, Goku and Bulma find their way to a small village, where everybody is scared of Oolong, a shape-shifting monster. They also said that Oolong comes back every day, to take a young girl as his bride. So, a plan was made that Goku would dress up as the girl and Oolong would take him, and he would find out where the girls are. The next day, Oolong came and tried to take Son, but he revealed himself. When Oolong’s attempt to scare Goku fails, he decides to fight him.

Oolong tries to morph into a strong being, but Son Goku scares him with his strength. Knowing that he can only hold a form for five minutes, Oolong runs away and transforms back into his normal form – a pig. Goku gets on Kinto-Un and a long chase follows. Oolong was taken to his house, where all the missing girls were found. It turned out that Oolong was serving as their servant while they were enjoying life. Seeing that Oolong could be helpful, Son Goku and Bulma agreed to take him along. When Oolong refused to cooperate at times, Bulma gave him candy called P.P. After that, whenever she said “Piggy” Oolong got diarrhea. After that Oolong was very cooperative.

Desert Bandit Yamucha

After days of wandering in a desert, Oolong warned them that this was the residence of the desert bandit Yamucha. Soon, they do bump into Yamucha, and Son Goku decides to fight him. Son Goku proves to be a good fighter, but because of his hunger, he is weakened. Just as Yamucha is about to knock him unconscious, Yamucha sees Bulma. Having a fear of girls, he is frightened off. As the sun sets, the threesome set up a house and settle in for the night. Goku explains to Oolong the power of the Dragonballs. Meanwhile, Yamucha and his pet cat Puaru sneak into the house, and overhear about the dragonballs. The crafty Oolong drugs Son Goku and Bulma to steal their dragonballs. However, Oolong encounters Puaru and runs away. Yamucha also fails to find the dragonballs and goes home.

Next day, Yamucha bumps into the gang once again, and fights Son Goku once more. He loses horribly, however, and his tooth is knocked out. Realizing that he can’t win, Yamucha pretends that he has run away, and plans to tag along secretly. When they get all seven Dragonballs, he decides he’ll step in and make his wish.

Ox-King and Chi-Chi

Close to the next Dragonball, the group comes across a burning mountain called Mt. Frying Pan. Son Goku fails to get the Dragonball in the interior, and flies around looking for an entrance. Yamucha recalls that a demon lives here, and eats up whoever comes across this place. Just then, Ox-King steps out and tries to kill Bulma. Son Goku gets up and makes him dizzy. Then, Ox-King learns about Son Goku, his grandfather Gohan, Bulma, Kame-sennin, and their quest for the Dragonballs. Seeing that Son Goku is Son Gohan’s grandson, Ox-King immediately knows that he possesses great strength. He makes a request that if Goku can find his daughter Chi-Chi, find and bring Kame-sennin, and have him put out the flames then he’ll give Goku his daughter’s hand in marriage, as well as the Dragonball which is inside his castle.

The Kamehameha Technique

Son Goku finds Chi-Chi, and then asks Kame to put the flames out on Mt. Frying Pan. Kame-sennin agrees, but says that in return Bulma has to go out with him. Without asking Bulma, Goku agrees to Kame-sennin’s request and they’re on their way. Since Kame-sennin had presented Kinto-Un to Goku, he takes another cloud known as Chibi Gamera. Unfortunately, this cloud spins non-stop, and when Kame arrives he has to throw up.

After arriving, the old Turtle master gazes at the flaming mountain and says that he can put the fire out. Ox-King is overjoyed, but Oolong is still skeptical. Before putting the fire out, Kame-sennin reminds Goku of his promise. Bulma learns of what he said, and is really angry, but agrees to do so. Then, Kame-sennin leaps onto top of a boulder, and channels his Ki. He cries out, “Ka…me…ha…me…ha!!!”. Then, his muscles are pumped with energy and he releases it on the mountain. After the huge blast, Ox-King thinks that he can finally get into his castle, but it turns out that the blast not only put out the flames, but also destroyed the castle and the mountain!

While everyone searches for the dragonball, Son Goku tries to copy Kame’s technique. Kame-sennin tells Goku that it took him fifty years to master it, and it’ll probably take Goku just as long. Still, Son Goku does exactly what Kame-sennin did just a few minutes ago, and manages to create an energy ball. Then, he releases it as a Kamehameha on Bulma’s car. Kame is curious how a little boy could be so strong, and Ox-King tells him that the great Son Gohan was his grandfather. Then, Ox-King gives Goku and the gang a capsule-car as a token of appreciation. Bulma finally finds the dragonball, and adds it to their collection. Then, Bulma asks Oolong to transform into a look-alike of her. Kame-sennin thinks that this is Bulma, and goes out with her. Just before the gang leaves, Chi-Chi asks Goku to remember her forever, as she is to be his wife.

The Rabbit Gang

The Dragonball Gang then arrives at another town, in which everybody seems to respect them. They get free gas, as well as free capsules without having to pay anything. Since Bulma is still in the bunny suit from Oolong’s house, she decides to get new clothes. Strangely, the clothes store’s manager is surprised that Bulma wants to change her bunny suit. Then, he realizes that she isn’t part of the Rabbit Gang. The manager explains that the Rabbit Gang terrorizes their town, and everybody was scared of Bulma and her friends because they thought that she was part of the Rabbit Gang because of her suit. A moment later, the real gang arrives and start pushing everybody around. Bulma warns Son Goku that these people are really bad, and should be taught a lesson. Goku easily beats up all of the men. Then, they radio their boss, saying that a little kid is beating them up.

After a while, the Boss Rabbit steps out of a Rabbit mobile. He’s really angry that one little kid beat his gang. The Boss Rabbit offers to shake Bulma’s hand, but she pushes it away. Then, Yamucha recalls that this guy can turn people into carrots by just touching them. Unfortunately, Bulma is soon turned into a carrot. Then, Boss Rabbit says that if Goku tries to make a move, he’ll eat Bulma up. Then the gang starts to beat up the helpless Goku. Then, Puaru leaps out and steals Bulma from the Boss Rabbit. Yamucha jumps up and starts beating the gang up. Taking his staff stick out, Son Goku threatens to hurt the Boss unless he changes Bulma back. Boss Rabbit changes Bulma back, and Son ties up the Rabbit gang. Then, they head off once more.

Emperor Pilaf's Wish

As the gang heads toward their next dragonball, a henchmen of the Emperor Pilaf, known as Mai, spies on them. She tells her partner Shuu to use his robot and steal the dragonballs from Goku and his friends. Shuu quickly gets in his robot and flies off. After landing, he destroys the capsule car and steals all of their dragonballs. Then, Yamucha appears and says that he’ll help them and go with them to Pilaf’s castle. They try to arrive without Pilaf knowing about it, but fail since the place is under surveillance by cameras. Emperor Pilaf watches their every move, and finally manages to imprison them inside a tomb. Soon, Emperor Pilaf enjoys himself as the air starts to run out of the tomb. However, he’s enraged when Shuu and Mai inform him that someone still has the last dragonball. When he demands the dragonball through an intercom, Bulma tells him to go away.

Obviously angry, Pilaf instructs Mai to turn on the knockout gas. Son Goku and the gang soon fall asleep, and so does Pilaf, since he forgot to wear his gas mask. Then, Shuu and Mai arrive with a spare gas mask and all seven dragonballs, and Emperor Pilaf regains consciousness and they go outside. Meanwhile, Son Goku and the gang wake up, and Son uses a Kamehameha blast to make a hole just big enough for them to see what’s going on outside. They see that Pilaf has already called on the Great Eternal Dragon. Yamucha observes that Oolong and Puaru might be able to squeeze through the hole, and both of them manage to get outside.

The Dragon asks what Pilaf’s wish is, and he’s too nervous to say anything. Before he can do anything, Oolong jumps forward and wishes for a pair of panties. His wish is granted, and a pair of panties appears before him. Then, the Dragon disappears, and the Dragonballs scatter across the Earth once again, unusable for a year.

Son Goku's Transformation

Emperor Pilaf is really pissed, and throws everybody into a metal cage with a magnifying glass roof. Then, he says that when the sun comes up they’ll all burn to death. Having no hope, they all stare at the full moon in the sky. Son Goku says that an evil monster comes out at the full moon, and it killed his Grandpa. Bulma asks how he knows that, and Goku says he just knows. Then they all realize that Goku’s not quite human and he must’ve been the monster. They all ask Son not to look at the moon, but Goku doesn’t get it.

Suddenly, he is in some sort of trance, as his eyes glow red, and he starts to grow hair. Son Goku starts to grow big, and when he can’t be contained inside the cage he breaks free, as a gigantic monster. Everybody starts running away, and Emperor Pilaf tries to escape in his plane. Out of control, Son Goku destroys the plane and then goes after Yamucha and the gang. However, Yamucha instructs Puaru to cut Son’s tail off, and she manages to do so. Goku returns to his normal state, and falls asleep, as everybody sighs with relief.

Goodbye Friends!

When they all wake up, they see that the castle has been destroyed. Goku is surprised to find that he doesn’t have a tail, and is upset when Yamucha also tells him that his staff stick was destroyed last night. Since Goku has no memory of what happened, he just says that the person who destroyed the castle must be really strong. Meanwhile, Bulma and Yamucha are upset that they didn’t get to wish for a perfect boyfriend/girlfriend. As they look at each other, they fall in love and start dancing. Then, Oolong, Yamucha, Bulma, and Puaru say that they’re going to the city now. Son Goku, however, says that he has other plans…
