My Abbreviated Bio May 8, 2003
You must have heard the Boy Scout Motto: “Be Prepared”. You may not be familiar with the Slogan: “Do a Good Turn Daily” and the Scout Laws, a scout is; Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean. Having achieved the highest rank in the Boy Scouts some 25 years ago, I think these are the values I still live by. My friends and close co-workers would use these same traits to describe me today. That's not to say that if you looked up "Boy Scout" in the dictionary you’d see my picture, I blew-off a couple laws (Obedient and Reverent.) My friends would also mention intelligent, funny, good guy to have around in a firefight or to fix a leaky sink. Caring, level headed and easy to talk to. Non-judgmental. I’d go out of my way to help a stranger or a friend.
I’ve been told I have a great smile and have been told I look like Nicolas Cage. I also have broad, supportive shoulders. The kind you can lean on when you need to. I get plenty of exercise through my normal activity plus some time on a stationary bike and exercise mat at home. I’m baffled by people who will pay the neighbor kid to mow the lawn or shovel their snow while they go to the gym to exercise.
I work in telecommunications which has been hard hit lately so I have to look for opportunities to relieve stress. I like movies, live comedy, prairie trails for biking or walking and great productions like Riverdance. Carefree activities like casual dining, visiting the Dunes, Shedd Aquarium, attending a summer fair or the Naperville Riverwalk Fine Art Fair are all activities I enjoy.
Traveling to warm sunny places to swim, snorkle and scuba dive describes my favorite vacation but I also like scenic trips to the mountains and can burn through a roll of film as fast as anyone.
My musical tastes are varied, something unusual is that I love the sound of the oboe and harpsichord. I like 70-80s instrumental rock, pop/rock and some rock-a-billy. Mannheim Steamroller has always been a favorite.
I’m happiest when its warm and I’m with friends and family sharing a meal, talking and playing dominos or cards. Or when I'm with someone special, when it's late and we're exhausted, it’s quiet and we’re occupying space meant for one.
I like to donate some time to worthy causes like prairie and wildlife rehabilitation, plant trees or go on a trash hike in a local forest preserve. I donate blood every 8 weeks because so many never do and even more critically need it.
I am most proud of my time spent in a previous position working in the 911 Emergency industry where I was the sole author of 4 US Patents. These are designs for products which help emergency response teams arrive at a scene more quickly and to warn communities to take action.
While lots of people talk about love at first sight and their ideal first date involves a romantic dinner and a walk along the beach, my ideal first date starts out something like this:
We’ve traded email and talked on the phone so much that our first date really feels more like our third, forth or fifth. If you’d like to learn more and aren’t quite ready to email me you can read my Detailed Bio.I arrive early, you aren’t quite dressed and you’re already comfortable enough with me to greet me at the door in your bathrobe.
I’ve brought you flowers and you go for a peck on my cheek but I turn my head and your kiss magically lands on my lips.
It’s a quick kiss but as you turn to go to get ready, you get weak in the knees and you just know...
