The Lutz Story
The Lutz Story

A year after the tragic murders in Amityville, young newlyweds George and Kathy Lutz, bought the house on 112 Ocean Avenue on December 18th, 1975, for just $80,000. A week before Christmas, George and Kathy moved into their new dream home with Kathy's three children from her previous marriage.
After moving into the house, the family almost instantly began to feel a strange prescence in their new home. They would begin to hear strange noises and doors and windows began to open and close by themselves. George claimed to be plagued by the sound of a phantom brass band that would march back and forth through the house. A Catholic priest who entered the home to exorcise it claimed to hear a demonic voice telling him to "get out". After the priest had come to the house, things began to become more intense. Thumping and scratching noises began, and Kathy's young daughter claimed to see a devilish pig-like creature outside the windows, which she called "Jody". They were later terrorized by apparitions of hooded figures, swarms of flies appearing from nowhere, disgusting odors, thick black fluids filling the toilets, telephone disconnections, illnesses, changes in personality, slimes oozing from the walls, and objects moving by themselves.

George & Kathy Lutz
After just 28 days of living in the house, George and Kathy Lutz along with their three children fled the house, leaving all the personal belongings, never to return. They claimed the demonic spirits that inhabited the house had driven them away. Not long after they left 112 Ocean Avenue, George and Kathy teamed up with author Jay Anson and wrote the best selling hit, "The Amityville Horror". Then in 1979, the Lutz's powerful story hit the big screen in "The Amityville Horror", starring James Brolin and Margot Kidder. There is a lot controversy as to whether or not the "Amityville Horror" actually happened. Some people believe that the house actually "got them" and others believe that the Amityville Horror was just a chain of strange coincidences.
