Here I will discuss some philosophical aspects of the matrix trilogy.

If you consider only the consonants then Smith and Thomas
are anagrams. Which is another indication of the fact that
Neo (Thomas A. Anderson) and Agent Smith are actually two
manifestations of one superior entity.

Oracle: He is you. Your opposite, your negative...
Smith: we already know that I'm the one that beats you.

Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary:
smith = MAKER — often used in combination <gunsmith>
<tunesmith>

So maybe "Agent Smith" means someone who creates agents.
which is basically what he does when he copies himself.
Maybe he is sort of god of agents.
My first language is not English so I cant be sure about this.
I feel that this whole idea might sound absurd to an English
speaking person.
