                             SoliRex
Solitaire Suite for the Rex 6000
                          Version 1.00
                          June 17 2001
=================================================================

SoliRex is a single Rex 6000 add-in containing a suite of nine
well-known solitaire games:

- Klondike (also known simply as "Solitaire") Deal-1
- Klondike Deal-3
- FreeCell
- Pyramid
- Pyramid Golf
- Monte carlo
- Stonewell
- Osmosis
- Aces Up

SoliRex contains several features that are usually available in
larger platforms, such as Undo and scoring. However, the Rex 6000
is not an ideal platform for games, for several reasons:

- The Rex has a slow processor with a limited (and limiting)
  instruction set.

- A Rex add-in can use only a very limited amount of memory (for
those with a computing background - only 8KB program and 4KB data).
This poses rather strong restrictions on any add-in development.

- The Rex screen is small and is only strict black-and-white (not even
  gray levels).

- And above all - Xircom, the distributor of Rex (now owned by
Intel), refuses to provide any help for add-in development. They
don't only hold back on releasing any Software Development Kit
(SDK), they even refuse to provide any technical information on
how to program the Rex, and everything has to be done on a
trial-and-error basis without any documentation or technical
  support.

Therefore, please don't expect the same quality that you get from
other game packages. This is as good as it gets: play and enjoy.

There's also another limitation of the Rex that you should be aware
of. The Rex was designed as a Personal Data Assistant (PDA), not as
a gaming device. Playing games on your Rex will exhaust its batteries
rather quickly. The author assumes no responsibility for replacing
your Rex batteries when they die. ;-)

This is Release 1.00 of SoliRex. Please report all bugs and suggestions

INSTALLATION
============

The distribution file contains the SoliRex add-in (SoliRex.rex) and
a set of Help files (xxxx-Help.rex). The add-in must be loaded into
your Rex. The help files can be loaded (they will appear as Rex Memos)
or they can be browsed on your PC.

There is no special installation program. Unzip SoliRex.zip into a
temporary directory. Then start REX Tools (with your Rex in its
cradle), select "File/Open" (or the "Open" icon in the toolbar) and
navigate to the temporary directory. Select SoliRex.rex. If you want
to load the Help files as well, hold the Ctrl key and select all
xxxx-Help.rex files as well. Select "Open", wait (and wait and wait
and wait) and SoliRex will be loaded into your Rex. Make sure that
you don't already have 8 add-ins installed; if you do, remove one
before trying to install SoliRex.

Check occasionally to see whether this version has been updated.
