Waboku a Good Card
Waboku: |
| Well I have previously wrote an article on underrated cards and here is no exception. Although I have already wrote the top ten most underrated cards and this was number one, I felt as though I should write another on just this one card alone being how playable and wonderful it is. History of Waboku Ok just to start off with the history of the card. When the Yugi starter deck was released back in early 2002 this was not the most popular card with the release of Metal Raiders coming most had their eyes on the new staple Holly Barrier and what became one of the best cards in the game as we know it Mirror Force. This was never an expensive card and only a common. So this was never considered the best card but certainly not played as often as it should be and should have been. It has scents been almost two years and still this card does not really have an increase in play and that leads me to ask why? There was a big controversy over this card about a year ago also, was it all of the damage from one monster, or the whole turn? The answer is for the whole turn. Present Waboku Well to this day I am the only person in my tourney who thinks this card is playable which makes me sick to my stomach. With the release of the three new Game promos one being Negate Attack which has found it's way into many decks. So right now this is not a popular card to see in a deck and if you do chances are it is a beginner if you live where I live in Ny. So this is overall not a very popular card at all. Why? Well there is really no reason that this is not played in decks except that people do not know how good of a card it truly is and that I have just recently discovered myself. Let me tell you the only excuse to not run this card is that you have no room and that may be the case but if you can find room you should consider playing this. Spears and all of those defensive switch monster that die after you attack this saves them chainable too, you should play it. Sometimes I think it may be the fact that commons are stereotyped as bad and this non the less from a starter deck. It may also be the reason that some people refer to it as the "poor man's Mirror Force " embarrassing people when they play it.
So to start out with the pro's: Waboku is chainable to spell and trap removal as long as Jinzo and Royal Decree are not on the field and activated. So as long as those 2 cards are not on the field than this is always chainable to s/t removal which is the main reason people play it besides it's awesome effect. Just this being chainable makes it more playable than the over rated Magic Cylinder which was a secret rare this is only a common once again another pro. So think of all of the times that Harpies Feather Duster has killed your Mirror Force and all of those goodies. Think about all of the Mystical Space Typhoons that have killed your Magic Cylinder, think about all of the Torrential Tributes Heavy storm has wrecked and then think of this a chainable card with a game winning effect. Ok just the fact that this has been released in 3 starter decks take away the price and the difficulty to get this card. That means that you can get this in the Joey,Yugi or Pegasus starter decks so getting it, or buying it is not an issue. Many people play Mystical Space Typhoon has became increasingly popular in the last 3-4 months so this would be a good card to play. Think of what it does it really messes up someone playing Injection Fairy Lily because they still have to pay making it 3x better than Magic Cylinder. And the fact that you can activate it anytime during your turn or theirs as long as it has been set and that makes it very good of a card. This can also be one of the most annoying cards when your opponent attacks with a Yata or something to lock you and *bam* Waboku. Also this is annoying to your opponent because of the fact that it is so hard to kill so that makes it highly playable. Stopping all of the damage for one turn is so good by it self but in a world of spears goblins and the newly released Giant orc form MFC makes this even better all of those one hit wonders are no here to stay at least until the new Skill Drain comes in Dark Crisis. Con's This is one card that I have to say does to have any problems with it, it does a lot by stopping the damage and could do nothing else to make it better and just like every other trap yes Jinzo negates it that is not a con because every card is negate able no mater how good. That is like saying no one should play Mirror force because Seven Tools of the Bandit Negates it. So there really is nothing bad about this card it is chainable and stops all of the damage for one turn and can be activated at any phase. Future I have no clue what this cards fate has it in the future but it is looking ok. Many more people are trying out this old card, which they have never played. Is it a staple? Well it should be because it is better than Cylinder and Miiror force is only a small step above it. So I give this card a 4.2/5. Hope you liked my article the next will come soon.
