Dark Crisis Preview

 

 

 

This is a preview of the next set to be released in around 3 weeks.  The set is called "Dark Crisis" and is going to be a very anticipated set. I am Going to write a 2 or three part article on the cards and explain what they do, how to use them,  and miscellaneous about the cards. I am not sure if these are all of the names that they'll be in English. The names and pictures might change so look for a name similar to the ones here. I will also rate the cards out of 5 like a card of the day review. I repeat these are the Japanese names of the card the are subjected to change. I also have to say the rarity will not be the same for all so do not count on the cards having the same rarity.

 

304-001
BATTLE FOOTBALLER
Fire/Machine/4/1000/2100

 

Well this is not a card many people will benefit from, the only advantage I see is the 100 extra defense making it 2100 defense instead of the 2000. It is a machine also and that might fit into a machine deck but there are much better choices. This is not really good for anything in particular. I guess if you need some defense a single copy would be good but if you are looking for defense than spirit reaper is a better choice.  I would say a 1.4/5

NINJA DOG WONDER DOG

Well nothing to good hear an average 1800. A four start 1800 we have plenty of these and most 1800's are obsolete in a beatdown deck. 1.9/5

WEAPON SUMMONER
Air/Magic User/4/1600/1600
Reverse: Put 1 card with [Guardian] in its name from your deck
into your hand.

Well in the new set we get quite a few cards with Guardian in it's name not to mention the few we have. So it is a flip effect monster and when flipped you get the effect. I guess if you have a deck built around a card with Guardian in it's name of a Guardian deck then a few of these would not be bad. There really is no point in playing this unless you have more than 10 Guardians. There is no need to use it if you play one Guardian Sphinx. 1.5/5

GUARDIAN SHIIRU
Fire/Fire/4/1700/1400
You can Normal Summon, Reverse Summon or Special Summon this card
only if there is a [Bow of Falling Stars - Shiiru] on your Field.
You can put 1 of your Equipment cards that is Equipped on this
Monster in the Cemetery to destroy 1 Monster on your opponent's
Field.
Ultra Rare / Parallel Rare

So when there is a Bow of falling stars on the field than you can put one equip card on this card to the graveyard to destroy one monster on the field.

Ok this card is so bad it is not even funny and we complain about the U.S cards being screwed up and look at this awful card being an ultra rare and so bad.

So let me get this strait this thing can only be summoned if Bow of Falling stars is on the field so that al ready makes it hard to get it out, and if it gets summoned then if you have an equip card on this thing than you can destroy the equip card to kill one monster on the field.

This thing is so bad it is not even funny this thing should never see play it just is not worth the trouble and not even worth getting rid of the equip card on it and number one why would you put an equip card on this?

GUARDIAN GURAARU
Earth/Dinosaur/5/2500/1000
You can Normal Summon, Reverse Summon or Special Summon this card
only if there is a [Axe of Gravity - Graaru] on your Field. If
this card is the only card in your hand, you can Special Summon
it.
Ultra Rare / Parallel Rare

Ok another card that can only be summoned if there is a card on the field and a bad one to. Oh and if it is the only card in your hand it can be special summoned. Well really it is not worth it at all. Number one like I said last card you already need a special card to get it summoned and if there is that card Axe of Gravity on the field then you can regular summon it by tributing one monster, and if it is the only card in you hand then it is special summoned to the field. All of that trouble I would rather play Summoned Skull and even that is not worth playing. 1.9/5

GUARDIAN BAOU
Dark/Demon/4/800/400
You can Normal Summon, Reverse Summon or Special Summon this card
only if there is a [Great Sword of Violation - Baou] on your
Field. Increase this card's attack strength by 1000 for each of
your opponent's Monsters that it destroys and sends to the
Cemetery as a result of Battle. Also, negate the effects of
Effect Monsters that this one destroys as a result of Battle.
Rare
 

Well actually just as bad as the last too only if you do manage to get it out then you do get an ok effect but you will never get it out with out a lot of trouble and will die before you get the attack up high enough. 1.9/5

304-009
GUARDIAN KEESUTO
Water/Water Dragon/4/1000/1800
You can Normal Summon, Reverse Summon or Special Summon this card
only if there is a [Rod of Silence - Keesuto] on your Field.
This card cannot be affected by Magic, and cannot be attacked by
your opponent's Monsters.

This one is not to good at all but a little better than the last two I did. So if there is a Rod of Silence on the field then this thing can't be attacked or a target of a spell card. All and all if you want a card that will last a long time one word for you Spirit Reaper. The fact that it needs the Rod of Silence makes it unplayable. 1.9/5

304-010
GUARDIAN TORAISU
Light/Electric/5/1900/1700
You can Normal Summon, Reverse Summon or Special Summon this card
only if there is a [Twins Swords of Flurry - Toraisu] on your
Field. If this card is destroyed and goes to the Cemetery,
Special Summon to your Field the Monster in your Cemetery that
was Sacrificed to Summon this one.
Rare
 

This card is not so good also but the fact that if you get it out then you do sort of get an advantage and that is when this card is destroyed you get to special summon the card used to tribute for this so it really is not that bad it is just the fact that you need the Twin swords of Flurry on the field to use it and that prevents you from using it quickly it is not worth it to get out.  1.9/5

304-011
CYBER RAIDER
Dark/Machine/4/1400/1000
When this card is successfully Normal Summoned, Reverse Summoned
or Special Summoned, choose 1 of the following effects and
activate it.
- Choose 1 Equipment card that is Equipped on 1 Monster on the
Field and destroy it.
- Choose 1 Equipment card that is Equipped on a Monster and Equip
it on this card.

This is not realty that awful, no use in the tourney area but hey you could side deck it for the bums who play 20 equipments. Also it is a machine so in a machine deck it is also playable. The only problem is it has a low attack but that is where you can put the equip on this. Now at first it doesn't seem so bad actually pretty playable but the only popular equip card is Premature burial and a few others this is not the age of equips so it is not that good. But then again with lots playing Premature Burial this is something to be feared, lol. But there is no need for main decking this unless you have a machine deck.

MAGIC REFLECTOR REFLECT BOUNDER
Light/Machine/4/1700/1000
If this card is in attack mode and is attacked by an opponent's
Monster, do damage to your opponent equal to the attacking
Monster's attack strength, and destroy this card after damage
calculation.
Super Rare

 

This is a pretty good card lots better than the Ammozoness Swords Woman this is like a magic cylinder and light and light decks are not the worst let me tell you. There is only one weakness if it is in attack mode than your opponent is not going to purposely attack it with a Goblin with 3 axes on it but it may be a hard card to get rid of with out spell or trap removal, also with Tribe infection Virus out that is a big threat to that but anyways this is a good card.

ps. This is going to be an ultra rare for the next set trust me

LITTLE WINGUARD
Air/Warrior/4/1400/1800
This Monster can change its mode once during your End Phase.

This card is not that bad but then again not really that playable, maybe a year ago when the highest ATK was 1800 then this thing might be good but now with all of the 1900's it is not that good. But if you do manage to use it right, attack an open field/ monster and then you can switch the mode that is cool but it is dead next turn chances are this thing is not going to last long if you play it in a  tourney. 2/5

DEATH GREMLIN

Reverse: Choose 1 card in your Cemetery and shuffle it into your
deck.
Ultra Rare / Parallel Rare

Ok once again not that bad of a card actually pretty darn good and playable. This thing is like a Fiber Jar for one card. I mean when your Yata dies you can get it back and any spirit back. Also it is just an all around card for getting your cards back. This is something that should be played a lot it is awesome for getting back flip effect monsters that got killed by a dark hole or a riageki. Or if you want a card back any card just use this. 4/5

304-015
TWILIGHT ZONE DRAGON
Light/Dragon/5/1200/1500
This card cannot be destroyed Magic or Trap effects that don't
target, and cannot be destroyed as a result of Battle with a
Monster that has an attack strength of 1900 or less.
Normal Rare

 OK an ok wall so it cannot be destroyed by a magic or a trap that does not target so that means no riageki or no dark hole, and it cannot be destroyed as a result of battle with a monster of 1900 or less attack. This thing is ok but will get taken down. So wow a 1900 can't kill it but a 2000, 2300 or a 2200 can and those are often played cards like Giant Orc Goblin Attack Force and some others so sprit reaper is the best choice for defense if that is what you are looking for. Also I guess it could go alright in a dragon deck or a light dragon deck how many of those have you seen lately {coughs} None {coughs } so really it is not that great of a card. 2.5/5

RULER OF HEAVEN SHINATO

Summoned by an [Ark of Miracles]. You must sacrifice 8 levels
worth of Monsters from the Field and/or your hand. If this card
attacks and destroys an opponent's Monster in defense mode and it
goes to the Cemetery, do damage to your opponent equal to the
base attack strength of the destroyed Monster.
Normal Rare

Now this card is so cool I am thinking about making a deck around this. This thing has a lot of potential I mean this is what it does,

You need to use Ark Of Miracles and you sac 8 levels of monster so this is a ritual monster. And when it destroys a monster in defense position they take damage equaled to the monster original attack with out equips. This thing could be pretty devastating I mean with Goblins, Spears and Orcs all with the defense switches this card will be doing a lot of damage.  I give her a 4.1/5

BLACK FLARE KNIGHT
Fusion Monster
Dark/Warrior/6/2200/800
[Black Magician] + [Flame Swordsman]
Battle Damage done to this card's controller due to this card
being in Battle is reduced to 0. If this card is destroyed and
goes to the Cemetery during Battle, Special Summon 1 [Mirage
Knight] from your deck or hand.
Normal Rare

An ok monster not good unless you play a mirage knight or two which are bad any ways You will never get this thing out just too hard it gets a 1/5 and out next card is..........

304-018
MIRAGE KNIGHT
Light/Warrior/8/2800/2000
This card can only be Special Summoned by the effect of a [Black
Flare Knight]. During damage calculation, increase this card's
attack strength by the base attack strength of your opponent's
Monster. Remove this card from the game during the End Phase of
a turn in which it Battled.
Normal Rare

So what it does is when attacked your opponent takes at least 2800 and the only playable monster with high enough attack to kill this is Injection Fairy Lilly so they will take 2800 kind of like a Magic cylinder but hard to get out and not worth it when your opponent can use a Dark hole or somthing.

304-019
BERSERK DEAD DRAGON
Dark/Undead/8/3500/0
This card can only be Special Summoned by the effect of a
[Bargain With a Demon]. This Monster can attack each of your
opponent's Monsters on the Field once. During the End Phase of
each of your turns, reduce this card's attack strength by 500.
Normal Rare

This thing is also hard to get out it is a Sprit and it has a Asura Priest effect and at the end of the turn it goes down to 3000 ATK. OK but the summing part is annoying, I give it a 3/5

304-020
EXODIA NECROS
Dark/Magic User/4/1800/0
This card can only be Special Summoned by the effect of a [Pact
with Exodia]. This card cannot be destroyed as a result of
Battle, or by Magic or Trap effects, and increase this Monster's
attack strength by 500 during each of your Standby Phases. If
you don't have a [Sealed Exodia], [Sealed Left Arm], [Sealed
Right Arm], [Sealed Left Leg], [Sealed Right Leg] in your
Cemetery, this card is destroyed.
Normal Rare
 

Ok not a bad card you can build a deck around it or throw it into an Exodia deck for a back up plan to stall. So if you have all 5 pieces of Exodia and use Pact with Exodia then you have a Monster that goes up 500 a turn (each of your standby phases) and cannot be destroyed by anything This thing is pretty good but then again hard to do. 3/5

304-021
REVERSE GIREPANDA
Earth/Animal/3/800/1600
Increase this card's attack strength by 500 for each Monster on
your opponent's Field. If this Monster attacks a Monster in
defense mode, and its defense strength is less than this
Monster's attack strength, do Battle Damage to you opponent equal
to the difference.
Rare
 

So this thing is ok, what it does is for every monster on your opponents side of the field, this thing ATK increases by 500 also it has a fairy meteor crush effect also. Nice but you will need some equips and not all that playable considering most of the time your opponent will only have one of two monster on the field. 2/5

304-022
BLINDLY LOYAL GOBLIN
Earth/Warrior/4/1800/1500
While this card is face-up on the Field, control of it can't
change.

Well this is almost the same a Gierfireid the Iron knight only better . I mean good in a warrior deck and ok in the rest so they cannot use Change of Heart on it or Snatch steal at least with Gierfried you could use change of heart but with you you cannot good in a warrior deck, or a Earth but else where not the best choice. 3/5

304-023
DESPAIR FROM THE DARKNESS
Dark/Undead/8/2800/3000
If this card is placed in the Cemetery from your hand or deck by
an opponent's card effect, Special Summon this card to the Field.
 

Ok not that bad of a card in a zombie deck or play it in any deck but you have to rely on luck to get the effect to work. So lets see drop off, Don Zaloog, Delinquent Duo, or Confinscation then it is special summoned. But really you are taking a chance using it. So It is all and all an ok card in a zombie deck and not that good of a card else where a 2.9/5

304-024
COMPOSITE BEAST GAAZETTO
Dark/Demon/7/?/0
This card's attack strength is the total of the base attack
strengths of the 2 Monsters sacrificed to Sacrifice Summon this
card.
 

Ok this is getting to close to a God card, so what it does is when you sac 2 monsters for this lets say 2 Gemini Elves then the attack will be 3800 and if you sac 2 spears 3800 if you sac 2 dons 2800 you get the idea. So this is not that bad of a card if you sac an already high monster like Blue eyes but it is an full lot of trouble to get it out and 2 sac monsters are not worth it most of the time remember speed is yu-gi-oh You could pull off a nice combo or two but for now it gets a  3.2/5

304-025
FEAR FROM THE DARKNESS
Dark/Undead/4/1700/1500
If this card is placed in the Cemetery from your hand or deck by
an opponent's card effect, Special Summon this card to the Field.
Rare
 

This card is a little version of DESPAIR FROM THE DARKNESS , In a zombie type deck it is good because it is one of the highest 4 stars zombies/undeads but the effect relys on luck not a good thing, remember Murphy's law anything that can go wrong will go wrong, in other words do not expect to be using the effect 2/5
