The ear lobes are by far the most popular area to get pierced.
There are a variety of styles that you can where your earrings. It’s recommended by most body piercing professionals that you do not remove the earring for 4 – 6 weeks, as it may disturb the healing process and/or result in an infection.
If you choose to get your ears pierced, remember to clean them twice a day for 4-6 weeks with an antiseptic formula (I use ADNOHR Ear Care Antiseptic Spray-$7.95 from most chemists). If you don’t mind the smell you can use Dettol, but it’s recommended you use an antiseptic spray that is specialised for piercings.
This is usually with an earlobe piercing gun. The actual earring is used to pierce your ear. It takes less than a second. It won’t bleed and usually it doesn’t hurt. Some shops may use a needle but depending on your pain tolerance, it may not hurt at all. I myself have tried piercing my ears with a sewing needle, which is not recommended as
1. It hurts, unless you use something to numb it with (i.e: ice).
2.It will more than likely bleed (not attractive).
3. An infection may occur. The result of the needle not sterilised properly.
4. Sewing needles do not have the adequate width. So when you go to put an ear ring in you’ll have a hard time trying to make it fit. Trust me, I speak from experience.
