Mega Man Anniversary Collection

Mega Man Anniversary Collection is a solid collection of 10 games from the original Mega Man series.

Anniversary Collection has never really been critized of it's content. With 10 of some of the best games ever made and bonus meterials, there's nothing much to complain about.

However the GameCube version of Mega Man Anniversary Collection has received a lot of critism about it's controls, so much that some have actually sold it in favor of other versions...even though there's nothing really wrong with the game itself.

The GameCube version of MMAC, as many already know, switches the controls of Mega Man's jump and weapon to B button for jumping a A button for shooting.

First off, I'd like to out point out that another, higher-profile game on the GameCube uses basically the same controls: Metroid Prime. Metroid Prime is also notable for it's inclusion of the original Metroid for the NES, which also uses the same controls. As far as I know, there have been no major complaints about Metroid Prime's controls. So what is with the hate on the GameCube version of MMAC? Just because the actions of two buttons are reversed, doesn't mean the entire GameCube version of the compilation needs to be critisized.

Secondly, what some people might not know is, if you don't want to put up with the GameCube's Standard controller, you don't have to. The Hori Digital controller, shaped like an SNES controller, works well with Mega Man Anniversary Collection. The controller doesn't revert the controls back to A=Jump and B=Shoot, but it does have a bigger Control Pad and a more traditional layout.

If you no longer have MMAC or you still have it but no longer want to put up with using the Standard controller, consider buying a Hori Digital controller and give MMAC another chsnce.

I should point out that the controller works even better with Mega Man X Collection. The X Collection does not have reversed controls (and features a controller configuration). That along with the Hori Digital being similar to an SNES controller, give you almost perfect SNES controls when playing Mega Man X1 and Mega Man X2 in the X Collection.
