Hello and welcome to my little web site.  Up until a year or so ago, I only knew there was an animal called a “ferret” but I didn’t know much past that.  I decided one day I wanted a ferret and began reading up on the species to be better informed on my decision.  Now we have a total of 17 ferrets; 6 of those being rescues we have done this past year.

These have to be the happiest little animals I have ever had the pleasure of being around.  No matter how bad of a day I am having, I can always count on one of them doing something silly, devilish, or charming that will put a smile on my face.  I have had pets all my life but never have I seen a little animal so eager to love and laugh as ferrets are.

Recently I got into making ferret hammocks or “hammies” for my ferrets.  After looking around on other sites I decided hey I can make better looking ones than that and for less and so Lighthouse Cove Ferret Bedding was born.

The hammies I make are not the average run-of-the-mill hammies.  I use top quality fabrics, Precious Moments patterns, children’s prints, calico prints, and a variety of other fabrics.  One side has a quilted piece in the center, I then add 2 layers of high-loft quilt batting in between the layers of fabric and fleece; the fleece being of high quality and a beautiful pattern to it.

You will see from the first moment you own one of my hammies; these are NOT the cheapie-version of hammies.  My patchwork quilt hammies are not perfect and were not meant to be.

Way back when, women would use bits and pieces of their own clothes, pieces of their children’s clothes, even pieces of fabric from her wedding dress to make a quilt for the long cold winter nights ensuring their family’s warmth.  To error is human, and if you are a human you are going to error.  I do not strive for perfectionist when making the hammies, I would rather sew in extra love rather than worry about the perfection.

All the hammies I make are individual and as unique as your ferret.  Since I use so many different colors of fabric I really won’t have a list of colors to choose from but will show pictures of as many as I can.  See a pattern you like, email me with the item number and see if I have it in stock.

Payment can be in the form of PayPal, cashier check, or money order.  No personal checks please.  Same day shipment with arrival of payment.

You and your fuzzbutts will be very happy with these hammies.  As a matter of fact, it will be hard to decide which side you want up, the fleece side or the side that resembles a miniature patch-work quilt.  We all know how warm and homey a quilt makes us feel, it gives us a sense of love, belonging, and life’s simple pleasures.

Anyone who wants to donate a hammie to a shelter, I will knock off the price of the shipping plus 10% for the purchase price.  (I wish I could do more for the shelters so maybe this is a good a place as any to start)  Just let me know what shelter you want it to go to and I will send it for you whether you want your name as the person donating it or you may remain anonymous.

I also sell my hammies on Ebay and you can find them there as well.  I will be offering seasonal hammies, presently I have up Halloween hammies and I am now working on Christmas hammies.
