Seven Top Health and Fitness Goals:

Hi! and welcome to the Natural Health Resort! My name is Kenneth Hill. You may email me at the address listed at the bottom of this website if you have questions or comments - and I sincerely hope you do! I'd like to share information with you. However, I'd also love to get your feedback. Do you have fitness tips to offer or links to other great websites? Fine! Write and let me know. Perhaps I can share them with our readers.

Fitness is a state of mind as well as a physical condition. In fact, striving for physical strength and health without the proper mental preparation is, at best, very inefficient. The purpose of this web site is to achieve a balance between the mental and physical aspects of health.

Incidentally, we shall often refer to other fitness sites in order to give the reader a balanced view of fitness, exercise, and diet. For example, we highly recommend Shawn LeBrun's fitness site. It is devoted to the theme of "more muscle in less time." The "hardgainer" especially may wish to visit this excellent site. If so, click on the link below:

The first goal listed above is "To achieve powerhousestrength and endurance". This can only be achieved by pursuing a consistent and sensible exercise program. You will need to adopt a program tailored to your needs. You may choose to hire a personal trainer or purchase a regimen designed by a professional weight trainer. Or, you may choose to design your own system by trial and error - that is entirely up to you. The primary issue is to do something towards achieving your fitness goals.

The second goal towards reaching total body fitness is to maintain low body fat while increasing one's lean body mass. Each year tens of thousands die from the complications of obesity {translate - "body fat"}. The cure is a proper diet and exercise. We'll cover these is more detail later. But, for now, remember that fitness is simple to understand and to implement. I didn't say easy - I said simple. It will take discipline and determination to achieve your goals. But - for the good news - it can be done. We hope to show you how you can attain this goal.

The third fitness goal is "To increase aerobic capacity." It isn't enough just to become a hulking mass of muscle - you must be able to do something with that muscle! Total fitness involves more than big muscles. Strength is great but you must also have stamina, endurance and flexibility.

The fourth fitness goal concerns body flexibility. I suppose it's nice to look like Mr. Hulk....but not if you have to move around like Tin Man! Real fitness means being able to perform everyday tasks and to engage in pleasurable activities such as your favorite sport. It doesn't mean simply having a hugh body which is good for nothing except making a striking reflection in the mirror. Flexibility involves, among other things, the mastery and use of stretching exercises or other activities such as yoga. Yes, we want muscle - but we want to be able to put it to a worthwhile use!

Next we need to adopt a healthy and sensible diet. The word diet may conjure up visions of deprivation and never-ending hunger. "Do I have to subsist on nothing but celery and yogurt?" you ask. The answer is a resounding NO! When we use the word "diet", we are refering to what a person habitually eats - whether they make good or bad choices. A proper diet must be both "healthy" and "sensible" in order to work. We'll be talking more about good nutrition later. Our goal is to build lean muscle mass and loss unwanted fat while at the same time eating what is wholesome and pleasant to the taste.

We want to "defeat the normal ravages of aging." To be realistic, one cannot expect to age with no signs whatsoever of "advanced maturity." There will be some signs of aging regardless of what we do. However, there are things we can do to slow, or even reverse, the ugly facts of old age. As might be expected, exercise and proper nutrition top the list of our "To Do" list. But there are also other strategies which we can use. More about that later.

We must, finally, "do all possible to look and feel our best." Obviously, this will depend upon out chosen lifestyle as well as the factors listed above. Still, it also involves our mindset. This involves a tad of psychology as well as the principles of correct thinking. These ideas will be covered in greater detail as we expand upon our website.
