What have we done in 2003-2004?
We collected food for AA Co Food Bank.
We collected toys for Christmas Child and sent over 100 shoe boxes.
We went Christms Caroling to spread cheer throughout the community.
We made 12 trays of cookies for the Nurses' stations at North Arundel Hospital.
We planted trees.
We organized several community events to bring G.S. together.
We had several older girls help younger girl troops as Program Aides.
What can we do for 2004-2205?
AA County Dept of Social Services is looking for groups to sponsor a child/family or senior for the holiday season. This is a great community service project to help those in need over the holidays. Call Christine Poulsen at 410-269-4462 to inquire about how you can help!
Our Troops Need Your Support! USO Care Package Stuffing Party Central Maryland Girl Scouts Saturday, November 13, 2004 Two Shifts: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Noon to 4 p.m. 9455 Jackson Loop, Building 1415, Ft. Belvoir, Virginia 22060 As of 1 September 2004 Operation USO Care Package has distributed more than 350,000 Care Packages to deploying or deployed service personnel at embarkation points and other sites and locations served by the USO. We need your help to make sure we have enough care packages for the month of November! Each USO Care Package contains, at a minimum, one prepaid international calling card, a disposable camera, toiletries, sunscreen, and a generic message of support from the sender. Other donated items are included so that the maximum weight of each package is approximately 2 lbs. It will be a great time! Lunch will be provided at noon. Wear casual clothing and closed toed shoes. Directions to Fort Belvoir from Washington, DC: Take I-395 South. I-395 becomes I-95 South at Springfield, VA. Take exit 166A, Fairfax County Parkway/VA 7100 toward Newington/Ft. Belvoir. Turn left onto Richmond Highway/Route 1. Turn right into Ft. Belvoir via the Pence Gate (Belvoir Rd.) Once you arrive on Fort Belvoir, you will see a visitor's center (it is on your right) and the security checkpoint is straight in front of you. Proceed to the security checkpoint. If you have a military or DoD ID and a sticker block on your car you will be able to pass right in. If not, you will need to have your state driver's license, car registration, and proof of insurance. Each person in your car will need a valid photo ID. Inform the service person guarding the base that you are here for the “USO Stuffing Party”. You may be passed thru or you may have to go through a random security inspection of your vehicle. Please do not attempt to bring any type of weapon on to the base (this includes any type of knife.) Directions from Fort Belvoir Entrance (Belvoir Rd.) to USO Warehouse: Once past gate, proceed on Belvoir Rd. Take a right on 12th Street. Take a right on Gunston Rd. Take a left at the SECOND sign for Jackson Loop. Take the first left to the front of the warehouses. Building 1415 will be on your right. Please, children age 13-17 years of age must have child to adult ratio when attending the stuffing party.
