Here is a picture of Jamaica. See on the side of the waterfall? Just a few banksias would grow there.

Now I will show you where Banksias will not want to grow. But some would! The 'Desert Banksias' like arid dryland. But, now I will show you where a large marjority of banksias will NOT want to grow. See those rocks in the right hand corner of the Jamaican beach below? Lots and lots of banksias hate to grow ON rocks, but in between rocks some banksias love to grow. Also, if there was a small island in the middle of that cove, banksias would hate it. They really hate nutrients and water.
You know when I said that the banksias would hate to grow on small isolated islands? See that island there. Banksias would hate that island.
