Rock Slug/Rock Garter*
*("Rock Garter" is the original 1992 Super Famicom name for this creature, "Rock Slug" is the new moniker found in the 2006 Game Boy Advance update. Normally, I go with the most recent name, but, in this case, I feel the original title is more distinctive/creative.)

Enormous, slate-colored gastropods that inhabit the North Mountain area of the 1992 Squaresoft Final Fantasy V Super Famicom video game. While Rock Garters can subsist on a diet of plants, fungi, or carrion, fresh meat is their favorite food. They're far too slow to have any chance of chasing down most creatures, thus, they must rely on the element of surprise when hunting. A Rock Garter accomplishes this by slithering up onto a ceiling or wall in an area that receives a fair amount of traffic and then remains absolutely motionless, its gray hide allowing it to blend completely into the stony surroundings. When something edible wanders by, the Rock Garter tumbles down from its hiding place, slamming into, and usually stunning, the prey with its considerable mass. Before the unfortunate target can recover, the Rock Garter immediately begins feeding by gouging out flesh with its radula (a barbed, tongue-like structure).
