Eiffelyte

One of the seven evil alien monsters that have invaded Earth in the 1992 SNK King of The Monsters 2 video game. Eiffelyte is a parasitic organism that must draw on the life force of other creatures in order to survive. The villain is extremely ruthless and bloodthirsty, indeed, even the supreme ruler of the alien monsters, King Famardy, cannot always control the fiend's actions. Upon its' arrival on Earth, in France, the gelatinous, three-eyed blob selected an unfortunate human male as its host. The full extent of Eiffelyte's powers are unknown, but it has been observed to perform the following feats:

  • Size Variability. Eiffelyte can change its own physical dimensions, as well as that of its host, at will, growing from a normal human's height and weight to gargantuan proportions (489 feet tall and 107,000 tons) in the space of a few seconds. Eiffelyte's strength also grows in proportion to its mass.
  • Flesh Manipulation. Eiffelyte can alter the shape and form of its host in unnatural ways. For example, it can cause the limbs of a human body to stretch outwards far in excess of what the skeleton and musculature allows.
  • Petrification. Eiffelyte's gaze can turn other living creatures to stone, albeit temporarily.
  • Electrocution: Eiffelyte can generate and channel high voltage electricity through its gelatinous body.
  • Life Drain: When injured, Eiffelyte can attach itself to any living thing and absorb the life energy from its' victim in a vampiric manner.
  • Flight: When detached from its host, Eiffelyte can float about effortlessly in a ghostly fashion.
  • Triplication: Under extreme stress, and when lacking a host, Eiffelyte can separate itself into three, identical copies, via fission, overwhelming an opponent by sheer force of numbers.

Materials:
Newsprint, tissue paper, cardboard from a cereal box, a junk mail envelope, white glue, hot glue, wire twist ties, and acrylic paint.

Dimensions*:
(*The dimensions for this model can vary, depending on how the joints are positioned. The numbers given are for the figure in a 'neutral' standing pose with the Eiffelyte attached to the head of the human host.)
6.6 cm/2.6 in. x 3.7 cm/1.4 in. (highest point x widest point)

Articulation:
Nineteen points total: Neck (2), shoulders (2), elbows (4), wrists (2), waist, hips (2), knees (4), and ankles (2). While not part of the figure, the propellor on the helicopter also rotates.

Time:
Approximately six days; I began working on this figure on March 21, 2008, and completed it on April, 9 2008. While that's a relatively long span of time, I only labored on this project on March 21, 22, 25, 30 and April 8 and 9 (I had a health problem, and numerous other distractions, during that time period, which is why my efforts were fairly sporadic in this case--that's not the way I usually work). My original intent was to make at least two monsters, several human-driven vehicles (like the helicopter) and a destructible city play set to go along with them, but, that obviously didn't happen.
