Carbuncle

A small Guardian Force appearing in Final Fantasy VIII. When summoned, Carbuncle emerges from a hole in the ground and then leaps high into the air. While airborne, Carbuncle's forehead gem begins to pulse and glow, creating the dazzling 'Ruby Light' effect. Ruby Light gives Carbuncle's summoner, and all of his or her allies, 'Reflect' (a barrier that bounces magic back at its caster) for a short period of time.

Junctioning and increasing Carbuncle's power has many benefits: 'Auto-Reflect' and the ability to refine Recovery Medicine, from various materials, are two examples.

In order to obtain Carbuncle as a Guardian Force, one must draw it from the Iguions that attack Rinoa Heartilly in Timber.
