Color Management

Similar to a monitor, a scanner also need to be calibrate to reduce difference in color of scan image and the orginal. Most low end or desktop scanner comes with their own scanning software, which can provide little control over the scanner. A third party scanning software, however, can provide a greater depth of control of the scanner.

Reflection Scales

A flatbed or CCD scanner can be calibrated using a reflection scale. The IT8 reflection scales can be scanned by most third party scanning software to establish an ICC profile for the scanner.

Tramission Scales

This type of scale is a step table use to calibrate projection scanning equipment. Kodak Scanner Step Table, ST-34, is a widely used step table in calibrating projecting scanners.
