PORT LAVACA YACHT CLUB
Christmas, 2002

PLYC Reorganized at December Meeting

At the Saturday night meeting of the  YACHT CLUB, the new By-laws were adopted, and a slate of officers elected under these By-laws - then, on to the party.  Remember, under the new By-laws, if you have a boat moored Nautical Landings Marina or if you have leased a slip for your boat at Nautical Landings you're automatically a member of Port Lavaca Yacht Club - or rather your boat is a member.  Remenber the words of our illustrious Past-Commodore Oscar Degan who maintained that, "Hey, it's a Yacht Club, only boats can join - people always seem to screw things up!!"

This picture of Nautical Landings Marina  shows that the weather man delivered on his promise of clear skies and mild temperatures for the mid December re-organizational meeting of the Port Lavaca Yacht Club.

Our special "Thanks!" to Greg, our outdoor chef supremo, shown here busy working his magic on a slab of brisket, a couple of racks of pork ribs and some shrimp in his famous cajan sauce.

Lighted Boat Contest 2002

The Lighted Boat Contest was sponsored again this year by the Port Lavaca Port Commission.   The contest was judged on the evening of Friday, December 13, by a team of judges selected by the Harbormaster.   The prizes this year went to:

Crazy Gift Exchange

OK, again this year we had our Crazy Gift Exchange - sometimes known as the White Dolphin Gift Exchange.  Folks brought a wrapped gift to the Christmas Get-together -  something they found in their boat that they couldn't seem get rid of or a piece of boat gear that they never could figure how to operate.   Those who didn't  have any junk like that in their bilges and/or just couldn't find anything just went out and bought something, cheap, like below $15 - a bottle of wine was a hit!!   Anyhow, as ALWAYS, we had a heck of a good time.
