The Kilworth Manor Bed and Breakfast is our version of the neighbors from hell. Don't do business with them, because you're enabling their rude and inconsiderate behavior. Bad neighbors are often bad business people. They've ignored our requests to make things right; do you think they'll treat their customers any differently when the customer wants something done right?

This wedding factory thinks nothing of having loud and obnoxious DJs and live bands play outside in a heavily populated residential area. It can go on for hours at a time. This is bad manners, and it shows little respect for us, the neighbors.

Considerable attempts to resolve the problems have only led to slight reduction in the problem - not a resolution.

The city has laws against this rude and inconsiderate behavior, but they haven't done enough to stop it. We've written our local city councilperson, and mayor’s office. They all responded. They seem willing to help, as quality of life initiatives have been one of their campaign promises. We've been trying to stop the noise since 2002.

Below are simple things neighbors can do to keep up the fight. We are organizing the neighborhood because as a group we are stronger than an individual. This site will be updated frequently with our latest news. If you have any ideas and would like to contribute, contact us at NeighborsAgainstKM@hotmail.com

Three things neighbors can do

Thank you for caring about the peace and quiet of our neighborhood Please come back and visit again!

The last month has been unusually quiet for the Kilworth Manor and today I found out why. The Kilworth Manor is FOR SALE!

This news makes my year. Over the past few years we have had many battles with the KM, some we won and some we lost. Today it looks like we won the war. I won’t say it’s final until the property is officially sold to a new owner but I have a bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge. I just want to thank all the neighbors for helping in this effort. Hopefully soon we can have a celebration. Keep checking back here for any new news.

It was one of those weekends I should have gone out of town. KM had events both Saturday and Sunday. The first event was just your run of the mill boring but loud wedding reception. The DJ played awful disco music for most of the night.
Sunday’s event was a little different. We got a taste south of the border. A full Mariachi Band played for about an hour before one of the neighbors called the cops. I got a great recording of the Mariachi Band in action. I also snapped a shot of the cops breaking up the event. I wish I knew which neighbor made the call to the cops. If you’re the one, let the email group know and we’ll buy you beer the next time we meet at Rudyard’s.

This past weekend did not disappoint. We finally had our first rendition of Brick House this summer. I’m sure we’ll hear it more then once in the weeks to come. A suggestion was made to record the events. Unfortunately I missed recording Brick House but I did get a great drunken version of Mustang Sally.

I would like everybody to have a chance to visit our fellow Houstonians website The Blog for Sounds of the cul-de-sac @ richardsfault.com. Richards been having similar noise problems with his neighbors. There is a great collection of pictures and sound clips of all his obnoxious neighbors antics.

Last weekends event was nothing short of torture. Drunk frat boys screaming and grunting until 2am is not what I would call "Exclusive and Private" as the Kilworth Manor proudly claims on their web site. I feel sorry for the bride that the groom had such drunk, loud, and obnoxious friends. It must have ruined her whole wedding night. It's sad to think that for the rest of her life, there will be some memory of her wedding that will probably include someone vomiting.

It’s another work night shindig at the old Kilworth Manor. There’s little chance of going to the bar tonight to get away from the noise. Tonight’s event started at 7:00pm. It’s beginning a little differently than most events. There’s an announcer introducing something exciting because there’s a lot of screaming women going nuts. Maybe they're auctioning off men to desperate women, who knows. I’ll do some Internet research to see if I can find out what’s going on. With this much screaming, it can’t go on too late. They’re going to get tired quickly. I’m hoping this won’t be a long night having to listen to this crap.

Tonight’s event at the Kilworth Manor was actually quite reasonable. The event started around 6:00 and ended around 8:00. The amplified music was audible but at a descent volume. If only all the events could be at this sound level there would be no problems. The wedding season is just starting up this year so we’ll see if this good fortune can last. Unfortunately I doubt it will be too long before we start to hear Brick House in our living rooms again.

We’re gathering a group to present our case to the Houston City Council. If you’re interested in attending please drop us an email. We don’t have a specific date set but the details will be out soon

We hoped you missed last week’s performance, The KPFT fundraiser that included two nights of socialist poetry, dancing, and an extremely loud live blues band. The first night was the worst because it fell on a work night for most of us. Going out to the bar to get away from the noise was out of the question. The KPFT website said the event was from 7:00-9:00 but it went on past 10:00. Houston Police were working the event
