Cisco Semester 3 Threaded Case Study

Introduction

This website will show you details of the Mt Sky network aswell as the inatail network exspnes to to setup up the network, also it will provide details of how network devices, other hardware and software have all been implemented to bring a finished network that meets the requetiments.

The requirments are as follows:

GENERAL
-The implementation needs to be functional for seven to ten years, with possibility for 100% growth.
-1 Mbps to any host on the network at any time, 100 Mbps to any server on the network at any time.
-Only protocol to be used is TCP/IP.

LAN & WIRING
-Two LANs to be implemented: Curriculum & Administration.
-Wiring needs to allow for bandwidth upgrade without the need for physical upgrades.
-Cabling infrastructure will comply with all TIA/EIA-568-A TIA/EIA-569 standards.
-All network devices (routers, switches) will be housed within the MDF / IDF.
-Each classroom:
--Will need to support 24 workstations.
--Will have 4 cable runs from MDF / IDF for data transmission.
--- 1 run will be terminated at the teacher’s computer.
--Will have a lockable cabinet containing switches which will act as that classrooms wiring termination point.

ADDRESSING & NETWORK MANAGEMENT
-An IP scheme will be implemented for all hosts on the network
-All interconnection devices will be administered by the District.
-All computers on the Administration network will be configured with static IP addresses.
-All computers on the Curriculum network will have dynamically assigned IP addresses from a DHCP server.

SECURITY
-Double firewall implementation to separate the Administration, Curriculum networks and the outside world.
-Two physical LANs at each school location: Administration & Curriculum.
-Each segment will have its own File Server.
-The Curriculum network will be unable to access the Administration network by the use of ACL’s.
-All computers in the network need Internet access.

INTERNET CONNECTIVITY
-Internet connectivity will be supplied through the District Office.

USER COUNTS
-Accommodation for a minimum of:
--250 computers on the Curriculum network.
--275 computers on the Administration network
