The Circle of Life
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
– Genesis 2:3"For dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return." – Genesis 3:19
"All life begins. Living things all have a moment at which they become "alive." That beginning of life marks the first point on the circle of life. Each family of living things has its own life cycle. Some organisms, like some fast plants, are born, mature, and die rapidly. Other organisms, like bristlecone pine trees, have life cycles lasting for thousands of years.
"Once an organism begins its life cycle, it immediately faces survival needs. In order for it to achieve its full, natural lifespan, the organism must overcome many obstacles. Most living things require food, water, sunlight, and oxygen to survive and grow. Many living things also need minerals for healthy living."

What is a Medicine Wheel?
The Medicine Wheel is also known as the sacred hoop. It is a powerful and beautiful symbol of the circle of life. The circular shape reminds us that everything is connected, giving us a new understanding of our growth patterns and the endless cycles of our lives. The Medicine Wheel is a mirror that teaches us that everything we do is important, no
matter how small, for all our actions touch others.Everything in life is constantly going through the cycles of life/death/rebirth .. including us. We are involved in never-ending cycles of growing, changing, allowing what is no longer needed or useful to die away, and ultimately transforming.
What are the elements of a Medicine Wheel?
A medicine wheel traditionally has 5 points. The four directions ~ East, South, West, North, and the center representing Spirit/Creator/God.

"The symbol of wholeness, represented by the medicine wheel, is still being used in D/Lakota ceremonies today. The center where the "X" crosses is considered the home of Tunkasila, Wakan-Tanka, God. I speculated, `If this is the symbol of wholeness, the symbol of the psyche, with Wakan-Tanka at the center, then Wakan-Tanka or God would be within you.'"
-Dr. A.C. Ross (Ehanamani), LAKOTA
The Medicine Wheel represents everything. All the directions originate from the center outward. The center is the home of the Creator. The Medicine Wheel represents the human being. At our center is the home of the Great Spirit. This is why we are spiritual. The easiest way for us to find God and talk to Him, is for us to become centered. This means, relax our bodies, still our minds, let go of our emotions and listen quietly. Shhh. Be still.
My Creator, let me walk in the stillness today."
"the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us." – 2 Timothy 1:14
"And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us." – 1 John 3:24
"If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit" – 1 John 4:12-13

From the day we arrive on the planet And blinking, step into the sun There's more to see than can ever be seen More to do than can ever be done There's far too much to take in here More to find than can ever be found But the sun rolling high Through the sapphire sky Keeps great and small on the endless round It's the Circle of Life And it moves us all Through faith and love Till we find our place On the path unwinding In the Circle The Circle of Life... It's the Circle of Life And it moves us all Through despair and hope Through faith and love Till we find our place On the path unwinding In the Circle The Circle of Life |
