Euthanasia

Hope is a wonderful thing. Hope provides a purpose for life. Hope also keeps patients trapped in thier mortal coils as they wither away to nothingness.

The release of pain can be an ethical dillema. The Hippocratic Oath clearly states a physician is to "give no deadly medicine to anyone fo asked, nor suggest any such counsel." Yet earlier in the same Oath, the physician pledges to "follow that system of regimen which, according to [his] ability and judgement, [he] consider[s] for the benefit of [his] patients of [his] patients". The dillema occurs when the benefit of the patient would be a fatal dose of medicine.

The dillemas of euthanasia do not stop there. The wishes of the family, the financial burden on the family (or state), the laws of the land, and the patient's dignity and life quality all come into play.
