Online Privacy

One of the largest rising sectors in the IT field is securities.  This is due to the fact that as more and more people get on to the internet every day, the more changes there are for would be criminals to take advantage of them.  When the internet was first conceived, nobody knew the rate at which it would grow so now the developers are trying to play catch up to the fast paces World Wide Web.  Due to poor planning and just the unexpected growth of the internet and all it's components, there are many holes that are wide open to anyone good or bad.  There have been many new steps in preventing misconduct on the internet, but that's a slow moving process.  Seems that the bad guys are one step ahead of the game.

I do believe that there has to be better securities on the internet, but not to the point where it takes away our right.  They need to set a standard that all countries should abide by.  These laws should not punish somebody because they live in a communist country that is trying to restrict people from reading things around them.  These laws should punish people that take advantage of the misfortunate, but because they live outside the US doesn't mean they can get away with it.  There should be  a good foundation set down so that when the laws and securities are built up, they don't crumble do a poor base.

Online privacy is an issue that has many gray areas.  It's hard to monitor people in their own homes because then we'll be stepping on people's civil rights.  Where do we draw the line?  I do believe that companies, corporations and other businesses do and should restrict what can be viewed on the internet.  It's their right to control and monitor what the workers are doing, but unless it is stated in the beginning of new employees or in the company handbook.  The issue that would be hard to monitor is at the individuals' homes.  That would be the same as "Big Brother" sitting in your house every time the computer was turned on.  Who knows what else "Big Brother" would be watching.  I don't think this issue will ever go away, but with time, it'll all come together.
