Steve Knight is a free-lance composer/arranger and is publisher of Thunderbird Music Publications. Mr. Knight is in his second year as band director at Bowie Junior High School in Bowie, TX. He has served as composer-in-residence with the Irving Symphonic Band, Irving, TX. Mr. Knight has taught instrumental music at Lubbock-Cooper High School, Texas City High School and Mann Middle School in Amarillo, TX. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education from Texas Tech University, where he was a student of the late James Sudduth and Keith Bearden. Orginally from El Paso, Mr. Knight attended Coronado High School, where he was a student of Richard Lambrecht and Dan Black. He is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Tech Band Alumni Association, World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles and ASCAP. Mr. Knight's compositions and arrangements have been performed for the Texas Music Educators Association, International Clarinet Association, Bands of America National Concert Band Festival, Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest and the Texas State Marching Contest. His publishers include Educational Programs Publications, Cimarron Music and Productions, Harold Gore Publishing Company and Thunderbird Music Publications. Mr. Knight has been a winner of an ASCAP Standard Award each year since 1999.
