Raising South African Boer Goats
A Brief History:
Like alot of people, we aquired our first goats as brushcutters more out of neccessity. The cattle simply werent doing the job of 'clearing' our 53 acres in Wise County, Texas, which had been neglected for many years prior. After several years of keeping 'ol junk spanish-crossed goats, it only seemed right to expend the energy of caring for the animals into something more productive. So, after too many hours of research to count, the L76 dove off into the Boer goat biz with 4 percentage does, 6 fullblood South Africans from the SWBGBA fall '02 sale, 3 Downen fullblood does in Nov '02, and recently the addition of three fullblood Eggsfile graddaughters. Although penned every night, these spoiled brats have free-run of 20 acres of oak-tree lined coastal pasture with a crystal-clear live creek at the back that is full of browse. We are kidding out our first crop of Boers, of which we will sell show wethers, expand the herd, and breed the finest meat goat in north central Texas.
"Miss Daisy", our American Purebred Boer, with Big 85 on top and Sasquatch on the bottom in her genetics. Aquired from the Muddy Creek Ranch showstring. She's one big girl!
