HOSTING AT MY HOUSE
On June 30th, two unsuspecting girls showed up at DFW airport, willing to live with me. mwahaha...guess that'll teach them! =) hehe, first came Anita from Hong Kong, and second was Marie from Belgium. Lemme tell ya, I wasnt sure how it was going to be...living with two girls who werent my family for 5 weeks off and on...but it was great! It was like two permanent attachments, who had fun personalities and never wanted to stop shopping (my kinda people :D). We did all kinds of things...we celebrated July 4th, Independence Day, in downtown Dallas at night with a good friend of mine...we toured downtown Dallas during the day with a couple of my other friends...we spent a lot of time in the houses of Dallas host people (namely Erlend, Lukas, Albert, and Liran)...we went to Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor consecutive days (talk about getting a nice tan!!)...we went to Traildust steakhouse where they cut off our cheap ties bought from home and ceremoniously hung them on the wall...we went on a shoe polishing brigade the last night they were both here to attack some of my other friends...all in all it went by way too fast, and I couldn't believe it when it was time for them to leave.

LAKE TEXOMA
From July 7th to the 13th, we had a great week full of tons of activities, including personal introductions of names and countries at least once a day, presentations of every country represented, non-air conditioned bus rides, swimming, dancing, sports of ALL kinds (especially ping pong - im going to get you someday Albert), wilderness trails through poison ivy, a snake show, a political field trip where we learned about the American justice system, and last but certainly not least, sailing with 8 of us to a boat and ending the day with Fajitas (our very own TEX-MEX food, not Mexican Patrick). We also put on a talent show, which was a big hit.

DALLAS/FORT WORTH DAYS
On the 17th and 18th of July, we went on a bus around downtown Dallas and downtown Fort Worth. We started out at the Fort Worth Stockyards, watching FAKE baby cows being rounded up, branded, shoe-ed, and sent on their way. After that we saw an intriguing space documentary in the omni theater, which i know i was awake for at least 15 minutes of. =) We ate a hearty steak and potato dinner, then headed off to a Methodist church to spend the night. Several hours of poker playing and truth or dare left us extremely tired during the Speedzone trip and John F. Kennedy 6th Floor Museum in Dallas the next day.

LUBBOCK
From the 22nd to the 28th we spent some quality time in west Texas. To all of you in other countries...west Texas is sorta like...another dimension...to us Dallas residents. It's the cattle capital of Texas (Fort Worth is just for show), and it smells like cow dung. Anywho, in Lubbock I got to live with a host family, which I thought was weird for me to do since I am a Texan, but it was actually pretty cool! My host mom was awesome, and one of the most down-to-earth, tell-it-like-it-is kinda people I have ever run across in my short life, named Karen. Katharina from Austria and Yael from Israel were my host sisters, and it was fun! Katharina has a cute boyfriend radio DJ whom we saw pictures of on his website, and Yael is Jewish, which is really cool since my best friend here in Carrollton (c-town) also happens to be Jewish. I find it interesting that neither of them are actually religious. hm. Anyways, we lived near another host family, this guy with a motorcycle. It wasnt a Harley Davidson, but actually a Honda...very blue, very shiny, very comfortable! We took a few drives late at night down the street about 10 minutes to get $1 ice cream. Ever driven on the highway in a motorcycle holding a cup of ice cream? Ask my host sisters, or Ellen from Norway or Henna from Finland. it's not easy!! =) Lesse...other stuff we did in Lubbock...we saw a lotta museums...*yawn*...oooh my host family and a few others went speed-boating with inner tube-type things...very cool!!! And some of us went to Joe's Crab Shack, a classic example of seafood fun (even though i HATE seafood).

FAREWELL DANCE
And finally, after 5 weeks of blood, sweat, and tears...the Farewell Dance - the last time we were all together. Characterized mostly by signing articles of clothing and photographs, it was fun, but sad.

Is this the end, you ask? Well, I certainly hope not! E-mail me your pictures, and this website will be tons more fun, for you, so you can see yourself on all the pictures! (unless you lived with me...or you're a certain guy from Norway...in that case, i have tons of your picture on here) *smile*
