Week Eleven Results

Sunshine Band

117

Fighting Bass

96

The Sunshine Band moves to within 1/2 game of second place (and of the playoffs).  The Bass continue to slide.  They're the only team to be under 1000 points for the year.  What I'm trying to say is that Mark's team sucks.  I guess they're just taking after him.

El Chupacabra

114

Fightin' Roos

75

El Chuapcabra wraps up the division.  Now, Cliff can rest his players for the playoffs.  Or maybe he should hope that the teams that his players really play for don't decide to rest them up for the playoffs.

Battlin' Wookies

97

Goodfellas

86

The Wookies stay in the middle of things with the win.  This is even though Marshall Faulk didn't play.  Faulk should be back this week and help them out.

Lady Pioneers

121

River Bats

112

This was actually the shootout it should be.  That doesn't happen too often.  Since I lost, that doesn't do me a damn hill of good.  The Lady Pioneers clinch the division title while the Bats still need to win to get in.

Sweet Chin Music

114

Corporate Raiders

90

Sweet Chin moves over .500 and continues to average 100 points a game and stay in contention.  The Corporate Raiders are still scoring quite a bit of points to have one only two games.

Sunshine Band

El Chupacabra

El C 10

The Sunshine Band is in the same position it seems it's in every year, competing for one of the final playoff spots.  This year, they're half a game out with two games left, but they've got outings left against El Chupacabra and the Wookies which gives them the chance to control their own destiny.  Win both games, and they're in.  We'll notice a little later whey they may be in trouble if they lose this week (at least if they're expecting to get in ahead of the Wookies).  Cliff's kid is pretty darn cute, uh….I didn't just say that in a newsletter.  He ain't so damn ugly, how 'bout that?  And how did he end up Cliff's kid?  Poor thing.  El Chupacbra's guaranteed to get their money back, now maybe they'll finally win a playoff game.

Fightin' Roos

Lady Pioneers

LP 15

The Roos may be in danger of slipping out of the playoff hunt for the first time ever and join every other team in the league in the process.   However, strange things seem to happen when Slick and the late season are involved.  The Roos have really been hampered by the mediocre play of Tony Gonzalez and most of the receiving corps.  The Lady Pioneers were up to #128 in the country last week and should be on the rise again this week, so I don't think they'll have too tough of a time against the Roos this week.  LP clinched the division last week with a victory and a Goodfellas loss, so they're also guaranteed to get their money back at least.  Kirk's won the most games for any team without a title, so maybe they'll finally pick one up.

Battlin' Wookies

Fighting Bass

Wooks 10

The Wookies need to continue winning in order to make the playoffs, and a game against Mark's sucky squad is probably exactly what they need.  The Bass are in free-fall, having lost their last seven games.  This should be an automatic victory.  The Wookies picked their win up despite the fact that Marshall Faulk started for them and didn't even play for the Rams.  Things should improve this when when Faulk comes back, so I have to say that the Bass don't have much of a shot.  I guess stranger things have happened, but the Bass have scored quite a few fewer (is that a word???  I'm almost certain that's some abuse of grammar) points than the rest of the league.  Even if the Wookies lose, they can get into the playoffs with a win over the Sunshine Band next week.

Corporate Raiders

River Bats

Bats 15

Now…I was damn near in this exact same position last year and Jim was having a terrible year.  At that point, he'd won only one game on the season when he played against me in Week 13.  The Bats only needed a win in order to make the playoffs and a game against the hapless Corporate Raiders seemed to be just the recipe.  Instead, the little bastard went out and beat me.  I'm predicting that the same thing won't happen again, even though the Raiders are due for a victory with the points that they've scored this season.  The Bats lost their opportunity for a bye last week and took some of the mystery out of the end of the season, but they still score several points a game more than the Raiders.

Goodfellas

Sweet Chin Music

SCM 10

Here's a darn fine game.  One team is going to be in the driver's seat for a spot in the playoffs and the other team is going to be in the driver's seat to "hit the friggin' bricks" into the offseason.  Sweet Chin has consistently been a better team this year.  They've scored 85 more points than the Goodfellas this season.  Doc's been more successful than their point total's been all year, so I guess stranger things are possible.  You know the crappy old Longhorns and the choke artist Mack Brown lost to an inferior team last week, so I guess maybe the Goodfellas can pick up a win.  It'll also be interesting to see how Kurt Warner does next week after returning to the starting lineup for the first time.
