Sunshine Band

Fighting Bass

Band 15

The Sunshine Band and the Bass are both 1-2, but the Bass are on a two game losing streak, losing each by more than 15 points.  I think they'll lose by exactly fifteen this time.  By the way, I wanted to point out that after a tough first week, the predictions went 5-0 last week.  The good news for both of these clubs is that everyone else in the division is also 1-2 with the exception of El Chuapcabra.  Everybody's still a player.  Also, every team in the division is averaging under 100 points.

Fightin' Roos

El Chupacabra

Roos 10

The Roos are 1-2 and El Chupacabra is 3-0, but I think things may change a bit this week.  The Roos are under .500 for the first time I can remember, while El C is 3-0 despite the fact that they've scored fewer points than the Roos.  I think the law of averages will come into play this week, and I think the Roos have enough in them to pick up a victory.

Battlin' Wookies

Sweet Chin Music

SCM 10

Oh yeah, in case you didn't notice, I was 5-0 in my predictions last week.  I'm an absolute damn genius.  You don't have to compliment me, I know that.  Now, back to this game.  Sweet Chin Music is 2-1 and the highest scoring team in the league.  The Wookies are 1-2, and Marshall Faulk is banged up some.  That would be a big problem, but Faulk's playing the Cowboys this week, so I think he may score more points than one would think.

Lady Pioneers

Corporate Raiders

LP 15

The Corporate Raiders are now mired in a serious slump, as they've slipped to 2-15 over the last two years.  The Lady Pioneers are part of the big logjam at the top of the Anderson division with a 2-1 record.  They're the second highest scoring team in the league.  Normally, I wouldn't think Jim's squad could go 0-4, but he proved last year that he could, so I have no reason to doubt his ability to lose this year.  The Lady Lickers will win.

Goodfellas

River Bats

Bats 20

If you own, the Goodfellas, you may disagree with this.  The pick is based on the fact that the Bats have outscored the Goodfellas by 60 points in three games this year, averaging out to 20 points a game.  For at least a week, the trade of Derrick Mason for Michael Vick, and subsequent retention of Troy Brown has worked wonders for the Bats.  Now, I may be a bit (OK, quite a bit) biased because I own the Bats, but I think that Vick will lead them to victory again this week.

Last Week's Record 5-0; Season Record 7-3

Comparison

OK…so we all made fun of Slick for protecting Tony Gonzalez instead of Shaun Alexander.  But what's really the score?  In this spot every week, we'll compare the efforts of misters Gonzalez and Alexander and provide a bit of commentary.

The Hispanic causing panic, El Machisimo, Tony Gonzalez

(In Keith Jackson voice) The lightning quick strong as an ox back from Alabama, Shaun Alexander

Points this week:  1

Points this week:  4

Year to date points: 24

Year to date points:  25

Points per week: 8.0

Points per week:  8.3

Comment:  After three weeks, it's close again.  Shaun Alexander takes the lead for the first time, but neither player is performing to the level that one would expect from a protected player or the first pick in the draft.

Trade News

The trade of the year, and the first trade of any substance in quite a while happened last week.  The Goodfellas trade Michael Vick-qb and Willie Jackson-wr to the River Bats for Derrick Mason-wr and Kordell Stewart-qb.  After one week of trade, the River Bats score a clear advantage in this one, as the combination of Vick and Troy Brown (who the Bats offered rather than Mason) scored 46 points and were THE single biggest key to the Bats victory in week three.
