Sunshine Band

El Chupacabra

Band 10

This might seem kinda like a strange pick with Cliff being 3-1 and Casey being 1-3, but I've got a feeling about it this week.  The Sunshine Band have won 3 titles in a row, so Casey must know something about picking a team and I find it hard to believe that they're going to go to 1-4.  Of course, who thought the Rams might be 0-4 and having lost to the Cowboys.  Cliff will probably whine, but he hasn't scored as many points as a team with a 3-1 record should.

Fightin' Roos

Goodfellas

Roos 15

The Roos climbed back to 2-2 and are a little closer to where they normally expect to be this week.  The Goodfellas got -1 point from Kurt Warner this week, the first time in a while that anybody's scored fewer than 0 points and the first time in several years that a player other than a kicker has gone below that line.  In addition, Warner's out for quite a while, so the job will be up to Tim Couch to right the ship.  On a positive note for the Goodfellas, the loss allowed them to claim Jamie Martin instead of the Roos.

Battlin' Wookies

Fighting Bass

Wooks 10

The Wookies are 1-3 and the Bass are 2-2.  The Bass have scored 50 more points than the Bass this year in four games.  So, why am I going with the Wookies?  It may have something to do with 99 cent beers at the Mexican restaurant I ate at tonight, it may have something to do with the fact that I can't ever pick Mark to win, but I think it mostly has something to do with the fact that Marshall Faulk is still the best player in the game and he's going to have to carry the load even more now.

Lady Pioneers

River Bats

LP 5

The Lady Pioneers and the River Bats are the two best teams in the league to date, judged on record and total points scored.  This should be a good game.  The Lady Pioneers started off slowly, but they've exploded with over 280 points in the last two games, which is the highest scoring two game run in league history.  I don't think they can keep that up for three weeks in a row, but they seem to be pretty good.  The River Bats have the potential to score 100 points every week, but they don't seem to have much high-end potential beyond that.  LaDanian Tomlinson has been fantastic.

Sweet Chin Music

Corporate Raiders

CR 10

The Corporate Raiders continue to be snake bitten.  Last week, they had the third highest total this year, and they still lost.  They are currently fifth in scoring in the league and yet they're 0-4.  They're fifth in scoring over the last two years, and they're 2-16 over that time.  I guess that's just the Lord punishing him for the life he leads.  Sweet Chin Music has a pretty good record, and has scored quite a few points.  This appears to be another mismatch.  Still, I can't imagine that the Corporate Raiders are going to go 0-5, so I'll pick them to pick up a victory this week.

Last Week's Record 3-2; Season Record 10-5

Comparison

OK…so we all made fun of Slick for protecting Tony Gonzalez instead of Shaun Alexander.  But what's really the score?  In this spot every week, we'll compare the efforts of misters Gonzalez and Alexander and provide a bit of commentary.

The Hispanic causing panic, El Machisimo, Tony Gonzalez

(In Keith Jackson voice) The lightning quick strong as an ox back from Alabama, Shaun Alexander

Points this week:  32

Points this week:  53

Year to date points: 56

Year to date points:  78

Points per week: 14.0

Points per week:  19.5

Comment:  Well, after Tony Gonzalez played his game and scored 32 points, I felt like he was really going to take the lead in this race.  However, Shaun Alexander had the highest scoring game in league history (and had 51 points in the first half).  Alexander is now up to 19.5 points per game, up from a 8 point average last week, and is now looking like the player that was the first player picked.  Now, let's see if this can keep up.  All those points still don't do much for Jim who still dropped to 0-4

Transaction News

Both the Goodfellas and the Roos claimed Jamie Martin this week (gosh, you guys will try to take anybody).  Both clubs are also 2-2.  However, since Doc has scored fewer points, Mr. Martin goes to the Goodfellas.  Good luck with that one.  It would be nice if you had somebody like Michael Vick to start this week.
