Week Seven Results

Sunshine Band

114

Battlin' Wookies

112

The Band and the Wookies are now tied for third; Casey's back in the middle of it all after a couple straight wins

Fightin' Roos

83

Fighting Bass

69

The Roos win the worst game of the week.  Mark's lack of attention to his club appears to be beginning to show.

River Bats

137

El Chupacabra

98

The Bats have the highest total of the week and tie the Lady Pioneers as the league's highest scorer (LP holds the head to head advantage).

Lady Pioneers

100

Sweet Chin Music

91

You know you're having a good year when 100 points is an off game (and 9 points below your season average)

Goodfellas

100

Corporate Raiders

79

The Goodfellas are last in scoring, but are 4-3 and only one game out of first in the Anderson division.

Sunshine Band

Fightin' Roos

Band 5

If the Sunshine Band can pick up their third straight win here and get to 4-4, things would really be confused in the middle of the Flair division.  The next game this week could make things even more confusing, but we'll burn that bridge when we get there.  The Roos won with only 83 points last week, and Peyton Manning has looked very average this season.  Tony Gonzalez has also cooled.  But, you can't really ever count Slick out and Garrison Hearst and Charlie Garner have been much better than one would think.

Battlin' Wookies

El Chuapcabra

El C 10

Now, this is the game that could make things very confusing.  A win by the Wookies would move them to 4-4 and drop El Chupacabra to 5-3.  That would also remove the two game lead that El Chupacabra had a couple weeks ago.  Now, I'm not saying that this is going to happen, but Cliff does have quite a tendency to fade late in the season.  By looking at the line, you can tell that I think that won't happen for a couple weeks.  It's too bad for the Wookies that they lost such a close game last week, but that's the way things happen.  Maybe Cliff will be smart enough to start Travis Henry this week.

Fighting Bass

Lady Pioneers

LP 20

The Lady Pioneers are still probably the league's best team, as they're tied for the most points and best record in the league and they beat the River Bats in head to head competition.  The Bass have begun to fade after a hot start despite the presence of Priest Holmes, who is having one of the greatest seasons in league history.  I don't see anything happening here that might change the paths these two teams are on.  For my own sake, I sure would like the Bass to win, but I don't see it happening in any way, shape or form.

Goodfellas

Sweet Chin Music

SCM 10

If Sweet Chin Music is going to stay competitive, it would be a very good idea for them to win this particular game.  On paper, this would look like a mismatch from the point totals of the two teams this year, but the Goodfellas last game also appeared to be that way, and they found a way to beat the Corporate Raiders.  In Jim's case, the Raiders always manage to find a way to lose, so I'm giving him more blame than the Goodfellas credit.  It's because of that fact that I think SCM will pull themselves back in to things and pick up a "W"

River Bats

Corporate Raiders

Bats 15

This is the type of game that the Bats usually find a way to lose, but I'm going to try to remain positive here and focus on the fact that the Bats have a 5-2 record and are tied for the league lead in points.  It's hard to believe that the Raiders are averaging 100 points a game and are still 1-6, but I guess funny things like this happen every year.  It's just strange that they seem to happen to Jim two weeks in a row.  Hopefully, he's already thinking of who he wants to throw out first in next year's auction draft.

Last Week's Record 3-2; Season Record 21-9

Comparison

OK…so we all made fun of Slick for protecting Tony Gonzalez instead of Shaun Alexander.  But what's really the score?  In this spot every week, we'll compare the efforts of misters Gonzalez and Alexander and provide a bit of commentary.

The Hispanic causing panic, El Machisimo, Tony Gonzalez

(In Keith Jackson voice) The lightning quick strong as an ox back from Alabama, Shaun Alexander
