August 27, 2003

Well, I got my computer back up and running. Now I'm trying to (and having a lot of trouble) recover my web sites as I couldn't get them backed up before the crash happened. Trying to edit the pages online with FrontPage, I have managed to mess things up but good. So please bear with me until I get this figured out.

Learning to hate hackers a little more every day!

August 24, 2003

Well, I have become a victim of some computer hacker scum that sent me either a virus or a worm or something that has hosed my computer up but good. So I'm in the process of trying to back up all my data before a reformat my HDD and install a new operating system.

Lots of other things happening right now around here, so I really didn't need this hassle. I'm not at liberty to disclose exactly what's been happening right now. But by the time I get all this computer stuff straightened out, I will be and will let everybody know.

Until then, y'all take care!

August 15, 2003

Well, July was just as bad as June as far as sales were concerned. August hasn't exactly set the barn on fire so far, either. So I'm still battling to survive in this lousy economy.

Not much other news. I just wanted to update the site so I don't get booted off the server for inactivity. Hope y'all are staying cool in these dog days of summer!

July 8, 2003

Just wanted to update the site before I get locked out for inactivity! Not much in the way of news here. Still trying to make this security business work. Not driving a forklift yet anyway.....

Hope everybody had a great Independence Day and looking forward to a good summer!

May 28, 2003

It's been a long time since I last updated the site, so I'd better write something here.

May has been a very slow month in the security business. I'm sure hoping things pick up soon or I'll soon be driving a forklift somewhere to pay the bills.

Weather is already to darned hot. I think it's going to be a long, hot summer. I hope y'all are doing well!

April 22, 2003

Well, tax time has come and gone. It has slowed down the security system business quite a bit compared to what it was in March. In other words, April is not all that good a month.

Hopefully, things will pick up a bit now, though. Lord knows the bills sure haven't slowed down any!

Hope everybody had a happy Easter!

March 25, 2003

March has turned out to be the best month I've ever had selling security systems. I hope it doesn't jinx things to say that I think we're out of the tough time of year and things will be OK.

The weather has been pretty good although today is cloudy and gray and rain is expected this afternoon. I'm still going to Killeen this evening as I have an appointment up there to sell another system.

The war in Iraq is going full bore now. Let's all pray for a quick victory so that our service men and women can home safely soon. Let's also pray for the families and loved ones who have already lost someone in the struggle and for those who are being held prisoner by the enemy.

And as long as we're praying, let's ask Him to guide our leaders and to grant them the wisdom to make wise decisions during these troubling times because the decisions they make now will affect our world for years and decades to come.

Y'all take care and have fun. Less than two weeks now until Daylight Savings time!

March 13, 2003

Hope y'all had a better month of February than I did. Didn't make many sales at all despite working my tail of all month. The weather was lousy and it showed in my paychecks.

But the March weather so far has been beautiful and sales seem to be picking up again. I can hardly wait until daylight savings time starts again!

No sawdust has been made as I've been concentrating on my day job. Y'all take care and have a good time!

February 12, 2003

Well, I finally got the pictures of the foyer bench I made for Nicole back on October and have updated the web site with them. Better late than never, I suppose.

No sawdust has been made lately because I've been quite busy working my ADT job trying to make a living. So far, so good. But I haven't exactly been setting the world on fire, either.

I hope y'all have a happy Valentine's Day and check back often!

January 27, 2003

Well, the holidays are all over with and the Super Bowl is done, too! I've been awfully busy working and trying to survive through the yearly slow season. Thankfully, it appears to be returning to normal and I'm selling a few security systems.

Still haven't received the pictures of the bench I made for Nicole, so I can't update the web site with them yet.

December 21, 2002

Well, I got that bench finished and delivered to the client just in time to meet the deadline. But I still haven't gotten any pictures of it back from the client. So I can't update the web site with that yet. Please be patient.

December hasn't been such a great month at work. Good enough to get by, but it's going to be a pretty lean Christmas this year. Not exactly the first time that's ever happened.

I hope y'all have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!

November 28, 2002

Happy Thanksgiving!

The bench project is almost complete now. The last coat of finish goes on the legs this evening after I return from the family feast. Assembly will happen in the morning and it will be delivered to the client's home by noon. Pictures will be posted some time next week. I'll update this page when that's done!

November wasn't such a good month for my sales. It started off slow and finished the same way. I lost three days to bad weather this month and four days for my trip to Dallas. Turns out the Dallas market isn't quite as good as I expected. Neither was the corporate training course for which I went up there.

But next month will be better.

November 15, 2002

The bench project is moving along just fine. The legs and the top are all ready for staining and finishing. As soon as I get approval from the client on the sample piece I'm doing right now, I can go ahead with that. But since I'm going to Dallas for ADT training next week, it will probably be a while before I can get to it.

As far as sales are concerned, November has started off slow. But I hope to get a few deals while I'm up in Dallas as the market is a lot bigger and hopefully better. And with the new approach on which I'll be trained, I can probably make my quota when I bring my newfound training back to central Texas!

Y'all take care and have fun now!

November 1, 2002

Well, I made my quota for October and even exceeded it by one deal. November is starting out pretty good as I already have one system that was installed this morning. Also have a number of very good prospects that I believe will be deals this month. Got two more very good prospects tonight, in fact.

I got a good start on that bench project yesterday and this morning. It's going to be white oak. Yesterday, I picked up the wood and brought it home. Got it all straight lined, ripped to width, and planed to thickness before dark.

This morning, I got all the parts cut to length and got about half of the router work done. If it rains tomorrow morning, I'll get some more work done on it. If not, I'll work on it some more Sunday morning. I'll keep you posted on progress. But the way it's started, I may have pictures of it posted on the site by the end of November!

Y'all take care and have fun!

October 24, 2002

October is turning out to be a pretty good month for me. I almost have my minimum quota of ADT systems sold this month and I still have a week left to get the rest. Mother nature isn't exactly cooperating with me since she brought in a lot of rain that isn't supposed to let up until Sunday.

But I have an umbrella and with the prospects I've been cultivating for the last couple weeks, I am confident that I'll at least make my quota if I don't exceed it.

I have a woodworking project in the works right now for a friend of mine. I'm building her a bench (made of alder) to put in her foyer for the kids to sit on while they remove their boots and coats and such this winter.

The wet weather is precluding me from going to the lumber yard this week to get the wood. But I anticipate getting that picked up Tuesday and getting a start on the project next week. I'll post pictures of it when it's finished. Since she's doing the staining and finishing herself, that may not be for a while yet.

Y'all take care and have a happy Halloween!
