The Day I Met Good Charlotte
The night I met Good Charlotte was March 7, 2001 in San Antonio, TX at Sunset Station. Well this is long so here it goes. Me & my best friend from school Desarae, were in line waiting to get in. Well on the other side of the fence I saw Aaron standing on the mini-basketball court looking at the stage. Well I told Desarae, but I didn’t call him or anything because he was on the other side of the fence.
So after that I looked over to the street and there was Paul and Billy walking and Benji on his bike. Me & Des got out of line and started to walk over to them and either Billy or Paul goes “Dude, she has our shirt on”, and Benji looked over at me and was like “Hell yeah”. I walked up next to Billy and before I could say anything, he goes “ Hey, I like your necklace, I have a star too (showing me his necklace), but I only have one, and you have more, but I like it”. I was like thank you. Then he asked me what my name was. And I told him, then he introduced himself, “Hi, I’m Billy”. And I shook his hand. Then I asked him if he could sign the envelope my tickets came in, because my friend Danan had told me they took her ticket the last time. And he goes, “Sure, just in case they do take your ticket”. After he signed it, I asked him if I could take a picture with him. After we took our picture his cell phone went off, and he turned towards me while he was taking it out of his pocket he told me “Aaron’s looking for us”. Then while he was telling Aaron where they were. I walked over to Paul (my favorite), and I asked him for his autograph, and after that we took a picture together. Then here comes Aaron walking up the street, so I walked up to him and he goes “Did you get your shirt at Hot Topic?”, and I told him yeah, then he told me “I like it”. And I asked him for his autograph, and I took a picture with him.
Then Rosie, a girl I know from school that we ran into, took a picture with Aaron, then she goes “Aaron, I love you”, and he smiled and said thanks. Then she goes, “Will you marry me?”, and then he goes “Yeah, sure”, smiling. It was so cute. Then I went up to Benji and asked for his autograph, and he asked me “Where did you get your shirt?” and I told him Hot Topic, and that I was trying to get more stuff off line and stuff, and told me that was cool. Then we took a picture. So after that Benji goes “So are we going to go eat?”, and they went inside the restaurant in Sunset Station. So me & Des went inside where the concert was going to be. So we decided to go in the gates.
Then I saw Joel walking towards the restaurant, and I stopped him, and asked for his autograph, and he said sure. So he checked his pockets, but he couldn’t find his marker, so he said he would be right back and he went inside the restaurant, and a few minutes later he came back out. He signed my envelope, then we took a picture. Then he asked me what my name was, and I told him, And he goes “Well, I’m Joel”,and I shook his hand. Then Rosie goes “I really love your song, I can’t think of it, the one with the video….” And Joel was like “Little Things”, and she goes yeah, “it completely describes me”, and he was like that’s cool. Then I told him my favorite song was “Screamer”, and was like “Really? I like that one too”. Then he left to go inside the restaurant. So Des, Rosie, her friend, and I went to sit next to the water fountain, and wait for the show to start.
Then my friend Ashley called me and I told her I just met Aaron (her favorite), and she begged me to get his autograph for her. So about 5 minutes later Paul and Billy came out of the restaurant talking. Then a minute later Aaron came out walking by himself, so I went up to him and asked him if he could sign a piece of paper for my friend Ashley. And he said sure, and he wrote “To: Ashley, I wish U were here. Love (but with a heart) Aaron”. And I thanked him. Then he went towards the stage. So while we were waiting for Slick Shoes to go on, Des & I were talking, and I looked over at the street because I was looking for some of my friends from school. And I saw Benji & Joel riding their bikes down the street.
So Slick Shoes went on, and that was a tight performance. Then Good Charlotte went on around 8:10 or so, and it was so awesome. The best part was when Joel jumped off the stage and landed right where I was, that was so damn cool. So after GC’s show, Des & I walked over to the side of the stage, and Paul was sitting down talking to some fans, Billy & Aaron were talking to some fans too. So I saw Benji, and I asked him if I could take a picture with him. So we did. Then he walked towards the crowd that was waiting for MxPx to go on stage, and Joel was standing there holding a water bottle. And Rosie said something about water, and Joel gave it to her, and she asked him to sign it, and he did. So when Billy was done talking to some of the fans, he came over to where we were, and Des took another picture with him. Then he went inside to change. So that’s when Aaron was done talking too, so he was going to go change but I called him, and I asked him if he could come over there. Then I asked him if he could do me favor, and he said sure, and I asked him if I could take a picture of him by himself for my friend and he said sure.
Then I asked him to sign my ticket (since they didn’t take it). Then he was standing there listening to Paul, and I told him you’re worth spraining my ankle over. And he looked at me all concerned “What? You sprained it right now? In there?” and I told him no, that I had done it a couple of weeks ago at softball practice, then I told him, that if I hadn’t sprained it then I probably would of not got to come because of practice. Then he told me, “I’m sorry to hear about your ankle, but I’m really glad you got to come”. Then he told me he was going to go change, and gave me hug, just in case he didn’t see us before it was time to leave. So, he walked inside. So I waited ‘til Paul was done talking, so when he was done, I went over to where he was sitting, and I asked him if he could write something on my ticket and if he could write my name on it, and he wrote “Melita Rocks, keep on representing” on one side and on the back he wrote “St. Paul is not gay (with a smiling face)”. Then I took another picture with him, and I told him “Paul, I love you”, and he goes “But I love you more”, and Des goes “But we love you the most”, and he goes “Ok”. It was funny. Then Desarae asked him if he would take a picture with her and he told her “What if I don’t want to take a picture with you? You’ll get glitter all over me”. Then he told her he was just kidding. So I asked him if I could give him a hug, and he said sure, and I did and he goes “Now, that’s a good one”.
So after that Me & Des walked to go sit on this rail by were GC’s changing room was and the side of the stage was. Then Joel came out from behind there, and I called him, and he stopped so I walked over to him, and I go “I have to tell you something, You’re music means so much to me, it has helped me so much, helping me deal with all that I am forced to go through right now, sometimes it’s all I have to get me through the day”. And he told me “I’m glad it has helped you, See, that’s what I like to hear”. And he gave me a hug, then Des & I both go “ Yeah, we really love you’re music”, and he goes “Ah, my girls” and he gives us both a hug at the same time. Then he left. So we left that area and went to sit on the railing by the basketball court, and we saw the lead singer of Slicks Shoes, and we stopped him, and took a picture with him. That’s when MxPx went on stage, so we went to stand in the back. And all of a sudden Benji came walking out of the crowd, and stopped behind us. And he was standing there, and singing along with MxPx. Then I looked over to GC’s merchandise table and Paul was sitting on it watching MxPx. But we didn’t go over there. I walked up to were the basketball court was, and where my friend Brandon was leaning on the rail (it turns out he broke his ankle, during Slick Shoes show in the mosh pit), I went over to check on him, and when I looked up at the stage, and Benji and Joel were up on stage, and they jumped off and went crowd surfing at the same time. It was so cool.
Then here comes my friend Daniel walking up to where we were. And I saw Benji go sit on this counter thing next to the stage, and I told Daniel “Look, there’s Benji over there”. And he told me to go with him, and he went up to talk to him and get his autograph, and I showed him where Paul was, but he said he already got his autograph, so we went back to where Brandon was. Then Aaron came walking over to where Paul was, and I asked Daniel if he had got Aaron’s autograph, and he told me no, and asked me to go with him, and I did, so he went up to him and got his autograph, and he talked to Paul and him for a minute or so. Earlier when Paul was sitting there by himself, Des & I thought he was sick or something because he was just sitting there and he looked sad, but when Daniel was talking to Aaron, Paul looked over at Aaron, and was singing, really loud (soooo cute), along with MxPx. Then Daniel and I were going back up to where Brandon was, and Billy scared me, because when I turned around he was standing right behind me, leaning on a pole, and he smiled at me, that so cute smile he does where he shows all his teeth, and I did it back to him, and he did it again. Then I walked back to where Brandon was.
Then MxPx said it was their last song, so Des & I were like let’s go tell them bye, so we walked over to the table, where Paul, Aaron, and now Billy were sitting, Joel had just walked away, and we told them we had to go so I gave Paul a big hug, and he thanked me for coming, then I gave Aaron a hug, and he also thanked me for coming, and last I gave Billy a hug, and he told me he was glad to meet me, and thanked me for coming. So we waved bye to them, and started walking away. Then Aaron yelled “Hey”, and I turned around, and he motioned for me to go over there, and I did, and he gave me another hug, and he told me in my ear, “Don’t forget to tell Ashley I said hi”. And I told him I wouldn’t, and I walked away. Then me & Des were like we should take a picture with all 3 of them. So we went back and we asked them if we could take a picture with all 3 of them, and they said sure. So I took a picture with them first, then Desarae did. So we gave then each a hug again, and we told them bye, and we left. And when we got outside the fence, Benji was sitting there on his bike, telling people bye. So I asked him if I could take one more picture with him and we did. And I gave him a hug, and I told him how much it meant to me for them to come to San Antonio. And he was like when the fans come out to represent us, then we’re going to keep coming back. And I told him I can’t wait to see them again, and that I will keep coming whenever they come. And then I told him bye. And Des & I left. So that’s all that happened when I got to meet them. I have to say they are the nicest, sweetest, and most caring group of guys I have ever met. They treat their fans like their friends rather than as their fans. If you haven't seen their show, u have to, it's so amazing. They were so cool, that was the best night of my life! Sorry it’s so long, but I wanted to tell you guys everything that happened.
