It used to simply be held on a section of the large (1 mile?), dirt, oval race track. They’ve doubled the seating area, by adding seats where the track used to continue. (You can see a hint of the remaining track on the right side of this pic.)

According to the program: “New This Year … Roman arches topped with statuary draw guests through their magical portals to a world of chivalry, knightly combat, and full contact jousting.”

Personally, I think the statuary is rather CHEEZY, and certainly not “Ren-Like.”

Then, again. The Romans occupied England for many years. (Hadrian’s Wall – which I visited last July! – was built by the Romans to keep the Scots out of England!)

So. What do I know?!
