Yes the Saturn was a huge money losing mess for Sega over here, but that does not mean that the machine was worthless. The system had plenty of good games for it, in fact the had hundreds of great titles for the system. However, like I said above, most of them were in Japan.

I liked the Saturn and brought one for $30 but when I first got games for the system I was midly disapointed. Yes I found games for $1 but the games were utter CRAP! Let me warn you that if the game is cheap, then there is probably a reason as I found out with the horrible Critcom. The only reason why I brought it was to make my library of Saturn games grow bigger. Now I wish that I had all of my money back for the titles I never play anymore. Even at $2 I could have still broughts something wiser than FRICKIN CRITCOM! A BOX OF FREAKIN NAPKINS would have been a much better buy than that waste of plastic! For every one average to good game there was 10-15 crap games that even the most open minded and loving gamer would reject. I am surprised my Saturn still plays with all of the crap I put in the system. That is where Sega got in trouble. Why buy a system with not that much support in the first place. Sega was already concentrating on the DC, or KANTANA, a year after the Saturn was released. That is not a good sign.

Enough on that stuff. The Saturn is one of the sleekest designed machines that I own. The size is sort of bulky but I like the look and seeing how Sega used only Black consoles early on, it fit the description of a Sega console. The controller that is packaged with the system is one of the best out there. Six buttons with two triggers make the fit very comfortable and a pleasure to play with. The library of games was relativley big, but 80% of the games sucked so that is forgettable.

Overall the system is a safe buy right now since it can be found cheap. There are those occasional games that are of great quality and are light on the pocket book as well. Your best bet is to buy a converter and import games, the average game runs around $30 with great titles like Radiant Silvergun reacvhing $225 on EBAY. Yes that is just the game to! No features but only the game. Still the Saturn is pretty cheap and well worth the $30, just don't expect a life altering experience.
