Well I have rented and now played this hockey game. This is the first game reviewed for the system and if it is any indication of how sports games are going to be on this system then I highly suggest you start hunting down one of these systems right now so you can have a system for the 2002 season!
Unlike most sports games the beginning starts off with the actual graphics of the game instead of real players and footage.The beauty of this game really shines as soon as you have finished loading the game for play. You are treated to some of the sweetest graphics ever seen while the home team skates onto the ice with the crowd roaring with the funky techno music in the background. Gave me chills just watching it. As soon as the puck hits the ice the fluid moving game starts to take shape. The controls are simple to learn and the game is fast paced. The crowd is loud and the announcers do not repaet themselves too often. Often after a score or a fight you see close ups of players adjusting their gloves or making faces in the penalty box. Just awesome.
This should be a must buy game for the PS2 unless you are a anti hockey person. Football is my favorite sport and even now I still reccomend this game for a purchase. Don't be a cheapskate and shell out the $50 right now unless you are saving your pennies up for Madden.
