Well it is about time I have reviewed this game. The PPS2's graphics shine in this one. The player's helmets are shiny and everything is very detailed. There are plenty of graphical upgrades and even the audio sounds better. Before each game we get a treat by listening to JB's littlew commentary and then we see the coin toss.The kicking meter is very simple and effective.There are options galore as well as secrets. Madden challenge is back which lets you earn tokens to purchase madden cards. These cards may give you bonuses and various other things.
The great gameplay is back as well.The jukes and spins all remain intact.The crowd is loud and so are the big hits. The game moves very fluid and lifelike. It's as you are watching a real televised game.The replays look great and the game is not difficultly super hard which in turn allows almost anyone to move down the field with a long 15 play drive. I had so much fun pounding the ball up the middle. 4 and 5 yard runs not only gave me first downs, but also sucked the clock dry. The ending does suck, like other sports games don't, and I felt cheated after a sason of hard work. However the game is so fun that it just takes a backseat.
The game could have had a higher score if they gave Madden more lines besides the "he just went up there and whacked the ball down " crap I hear every other play. It would have also benifitted by having better looking character models. There is generic white guy and generic black guy. The coaches faces do look different but the body appearnce is plain bad. Wade Phillips does not weigh 180 pounds. Don't let the rant fool you, the game is the best in the series and can only be rivaled by 2K1.
