a*m*: I'm a bit confused on your theory of creationism. Could you be more specific about how it would differ from the route of creation in the Bible? My understanding of Science as a whole is one of the 2 main purposes of the Bible as a history and guideline. And the creation of "All" is actually in scientific order of Darwin's claims. Is there a wrong?
C14Doc: I'm not a Creationist, therefore I have no theory of Creationism, except that it is a belief of people who cannot understand or accept science
a*m*: Well, science is also a belief that is studied. Not unlike any theology. Creationism seems to serve only half of the purpose towards understanding. I don't believe at this point that the word "cannot" is the word you intend. I believe it would be "will not." But my confusion stems from the facts that Science and Theology seem to be one in the same and no one around me sees this.
C14Doc: science and religion are two totally different things
a*m*: How are they?
C14Doc: science does not create false dieties to explain things which have not yet been proven
a*m*: What about theory?
C14Doc: theories are based in fact.
C14Doc: theories are more along the lines of an educated guess....believing in something just because you can't think of any other explanation is NOT an educated guess or theory
a*m*: I thought theories were educated guesses based on information provided by a subject.
C14Doc: not exactly
C14Doc: theories are educated guesses based on prior knowledge that has been established as fact
a*m*: In the Bible, for example, even though Moses was not alive during the original writings, there is so much scientific information given (The earth is round, clean your hands between bodies, etc.)
a*m*: The ten commandments was only an outline to the writings to come.
a*m*: All of which were scientifically based and ignored by most.
C14Doc: the Bible does have some good points in its moralities, but it also contains many contradictions
a*m*: I wasn't speaking of morals, I was speaking of science. And from a scientific standpoint, reading the book as a history has proven to be the most logical and understanding.
C14Doc: so "creation" is logical and scientific?
a*m*: I used to pick the book up and think it powers or something and never understood much. Creation is logical and makes sense.
C14Doc: so believing that some being in the heavens created everything from nothing is logical to you?!
C14Doc: hmmm...somebody didn't learn their Law of Conservation of Mass
a*m*: I just don't view the book the way most would. I believe it is logical that a being of some sort could have created something. We do it all the time.
C14Doc: people assume that there must be a god that created everything, because that's what they are taught from a young age and most people never learn to think any differently
C14Doc: AND, if there is a God, where did he come from????
a*m*: I don't know what Law you refer to. I see a lot of strange issues in the Bible that do not conform to the natural Christian outlook. I don't understand why there is no other outlook. God? Any item revered as "Holy" could be God. AA members start sobering by seeing that the bottle isn't God. God is a term. Truth be known, the "God" Moses dealt with sounded more like a distant traveler. Scientifically studied, the writings point to an entirely different source of creation and never do actually show just one single being actually creating the "Universe."
C14Doc: Law of Conservation of Mass: "Matter cannot be created nor destroyed, but can only change form"
C14Doc: look it up in any physics book
a*m*: And isn't this the outcome in the beginning?
C14Doc: what ?
a*m*: It never says there was absolutely nothing out there before "God" created light. But don't I create light when I flip the switch?
C14Doc: "outcome in the beginning" is kind of a contradiction in terms
a*m*: The outcome of anything can then be continued regardless. Evolution shows parts of this. Condensation and evaporation is a good example.
a*m*: The outcome of one is the beginning of another.
C14Doc: you don't "create" light when you flip a switch. you connect an electrical current.
a*m*: But it all ties together as a whole.
a*m*: No
C14Doc: still, you have not "created" anything
a*m*: I create it by sending the electrical current to create heat.
a*m*: No one has ever asked how "God" did it because it was beyond comprehension at the time.
C14Doc: you turned the fucking light on, that's all
a*m*: And if I had done this in 5000BC?
a*m*: How would they see it?
C14Doc: what I'm saying is that people just believe in God becasue they have no other explanation
C14Doc: and if you had done that in 500 B.C., you would have been revered as a god, because they did not yet know how to channel electricity
a*m*: But I have an explination...
a*m*: I have had one for some time...
C14Doc: ok, what's that?
a*m*: That the God the people of that time were talking about was a "Big brother."
C14Doc: a "big brother" ??
a*m*: Yeah, take this in for thought...
C14Doc: explain
a*m*: Hold on, I have my teacher griping at me.
a*m*: BRB
C14Doc: your teacher? Sweet fucking christ how old are you?!
