I Am Thankful For

I Am Thankful For

I am thankful for John.
He has helped me to understand myself.
He has been supportive, loving, caring.
He has taught me that not all men hurt.
He has hugged when hugs were needed,
and cried when tears were the only thing I understood.
Through it all, he has been there for me.
He helped take pressure off my mom by showing her
that someone else cares and is there to lean on.

I am thankful for Mom.
Mom has been there for me since day one.
She has been my strength, my laughter, my tears.
She is the picture of love and patience.
Through her grief and pain that was my childhood,
she found the energy to raise me and help me.
She loves me and through it all, that was what I needed.

I am thankful for my brother.
My brother taught me to fear him. Through the fear, I grew.
He taught me not to trust. Through distrust, I learned that I am not
invincible,
but a human being, easily hurt and damaged.
He taught me hate. Through hate, I learned to love those who deserve love.
He taught me forgiveness. When I talked to him, he told me what it was like
for him all these years.
The guilt, the heartache, knowing what he had done.
I am not blamed.
I have forgiven him. I am not healed from this, but always healing.
Always healing.
I have learned forgiveness. It was not easy, some find forgiveness, some do
not.
I have.

I'm thankful that I have found the will to go on.
Oh the things I would be missing if I had let fear and hate win!

I am thankful for God.
He is always there.
A forever Friend.
A Father I never had.
A Teacher.

I am thankful for my life.
I have a life.
