Instrument Use Fee

The AISD requires that students who play a district-owned instrument pay $25* per semester to help defray the cost of major repairs and replacement.  This fee is due at the beginning of the semester.  Any repair due to abnormal wear or abuse of the instrument is the responsibility of the student.
*New policy effective August 2000

Fair Share Contribution

We, as members of the Orchestra, are required to raise our own funds to run our organization.  Every member is required to fund raise a "fair share" of  $65 in profit.  This money covers the member's orchestra expenses for the year including uniform fee, Orchestra polo shirt (casual uniform), film/processing, scrapbook materials, lock-in expenses including the karaoke rental, Orchestra pages in the yearbook, various awards, contest entry fees (does not include solo/ensemble fees), guest clinicians and artists, banquet ticket*, and other operating costs.

We will have 3-4 fundraisers this year to help your student earn his/her "fair share".  If you choose not to participate in the fundraisers, you may pay this amount up front by sending cash or a check payable to the CHS Orchestra.

If you do participate in the fundraisers, but do not make your profit, you will be required to pay the difference.  The fair share fee must be paid no later than December 1st. If you have any ideas on how we might raise funds this year, please contact me at 414-7782.

*An awards banquet/dinner & dance is held in the spring to celebrate the students and the events and accomplishments of the year.

Events & Awards. Top of Page

Events

We have many fundraisers planed throughout the year to help each student pay their "fair share" and to add to their account for solo/ensemble contest fees and trip fees.

There are also several solo/ensemble contests at various time of the year in which students may enter and compete in.

Award Jackets

Letter jackets are awarded on the basis of a point system.  A student earns these points by being an active member of the Crockett Orchestra.  Once a student has earned 40 points, he/she will be awarded a letter jacket by the Orchestra Booster Club.  A junior who has earned the required number of points will be awarded a jacket only with the understanding that he/she intends to be a four-year member of this organization.  Because letter jackets are awarded to active members who participate in the Orchestra for the full four years, then students who find that they must withdraw from the Orchestra will be responsible for reimbursing the Orchestra Booster Club the full cost of the jacket.
