Chapter 9

"And just what was your side of the plan?" the man asked. Sydney frowned, not feeling it was any of his business. "With all due respect sir. I do not feel that is any of your business." She stated. Alyssa gawked. "We need to know Ms. McConnel. We have to see if your story and Mr. McLean's story match up." he said. "McLean? You've talked to AJ?" Sydney asked, her eyes lighting up. "Yes ma'am. We have a gentleman talking to him and Mr. Littrell right now." he replied. "Now continue."

"They're here? AJ is here?" Sydney asked, her mind far away from whatever plan he was asking about. She hadn't seen him since the day after the kidnapping...that's when everything just went to hell... Alyssa saw Sydney's face and continued the story. "Sir, allow me to fill in a few gaps..."

Nothing happened between Brian and Alyssa after Sydney's intervention. Neither of them wanted to try anything, for fear of getting hurt. They sat and talked for the rest of the morning...until there came a sharp knock on the door. "Holy shit! The only people that know where this place is-are me and Syd. God, Brian, see what you calling Kevin has done?! Jesus, here we go." Alyssa muttered, walking towards the door. She opened it, only to be bombarded with policemen, handcuffed and sat down on the couch for automatic questioning. Kevin, Howie and Nick all came running in, hugging Brian when they found him.

"Where's AJ?" Howie asked concerned. Brian looked over at Alyssa who sat quietly, a tear sliding down her face. His heart went out to her, she had been sweet to him. "Brian-you were asked a question." Nick said, snapping his fingers in his face. "Where is AJ?" Brian shrugged, not wanting to be part of this. Half a dozen policemen stormed upstairs, knocking down the door to Sydney's room. Obvious cursing was heard all the way downstairs and Brian cringed.

"Yup, that's her..." he mumbled. Everyone looked at the stairs where AJ and Sydney were being led down. AJ trotted down quickly, said hello to the guys then inquired as to what they were going to do with Syd. "Lock her up, sir. What she did was a felony and she could get in big trouble for it." One officer said. "Excuse me, may I talk to her?" Kevin asked, stepping forward. The officer nodded, throwing her hard down into a chair, her hands cuffed behind her back.

"What?" Sydney asked, not a tear on her face, looking up at Kevin. "What the hell were you thinking you would get out of all this?" Kevin asked, noticing she was wearing only a small tanktop and a pair of panties. "I was thinking I would get exactly what I got. And therefore, I have no reason to show the remorse you are hoping to see Mr. Richardson. You want guilt, shame and remorse? Go talk to Alyssa over there. You will find none from me." Sydney said, head held high. Kevin frowned, anger creasing his eyebrows.

He walked back over to the guys, telling them what she had said. AJ laughed, and the other turned to stare at him. AJ muttered a sheepish apology and walked over to Syd. Not realizing that everyone had stopped to see what would happen. He knelt down in front of her, gently kissing her bare knees.

"I must admit that I had fun." He said with a smile. Sydney smiled back. "And I have to admit I would do it again, in a heartbeat, as long as you promise to leave the gun in the car." Sydney laughed, leaning forward. "I thank you for your cooperation, Mr. McLean. It made the whole thing a lot easier on me." She said with a smile, before capturing his mouth with a kiss. The kiss would have continued in length, had a police officer not come and led Sydney away. Another few officers grouped the guys together and headed them out the door. Brian passed by Alyssa's window, giving a small smile to the teary eyed girl inside the car...

"...and that was the last time we saw them." AJ finished up, leaning back in his chair, exhaling a large puff of smoke. "Well, sir, if we have anything to do with it," the man began, "You will not see them again until the trial." AJ gave the man a puzzled look. "Do you think I dont want to see Syd? Have I somehow given you that impression? Have I said anything that would lead you to believe that I do not care about that woman or her fate?

I apologize for any misleading I may have done. But, truth of the matter is, I miss her, sir. I want to see her again." Brian looked at AJ shocked. The man with the tape recorder stopped, stood up, whispered something to the guard outside the door and told AJ to come with him.

They stopped outside a window. It was a two-way window. They could see in, but the girls behind it could not see out. AJ laughed, noticing that Sydney was the one talking and he assumed that was much how he and Brian had been positioned. Sydney was leaning back in her chair, hands resting behind her head, talking with ease and obviously no remorse for what she did. Alyssa sat in a chair opposite, tapping a pencil absently on the table. Brian walked up behind, putting his hands on AJ's shoulders.

"Is that really what you want?" Brian said quietly, watching Alyssa's somber face, versus Sydney's completely comfortable appearance. AJ nodded, remembering the passion he had experienced with her. She had wanted to be with him more than anything and it showed in everything she did with and to him. That night had been amazing and he had been missing her ever since.

Right now, she was wearing baggy jeans and a skin tight spaghetti strap, no bra, he noticed. Her eyes wandered around the room...right past him, and his breath caught in his chest. Her eyes were just as beautiful as he remembered. Brian noticed the obvious change in AJ's attitude and started formulating a plan of his own. He secretly missed Alyssa, but couldnt lead on about it...not just yet.
