Dan
Dan is the mysterious young man that appears in Essex, England after the disappearance of a young woman, Ms. Chalfont. The woman was known for being a little loose and was frequently seen at the local bar and inn, The Tallboys, which was Dan's place of empolyment. Dan is notorious for being a womanizer. He had relations with Ms. Chalfont and another servant girl named Lil. Soon after the disappearance, a third woman was included. This was Dora, a maid who worked for an old woman in town. Dora soon learns that she is pregant with Dan's child. Dan says he will marry her soon, but things are not what they seem. Dan has two other women in his sights Mrs. Bramson (Dora's aged employer), and Olivia Grayne (Mrs. Bramson's young niece). When Dan arrives at Mrs. Bramson's house, he sweet talks his way into her home. Soon after he settles down, Ms. Chalfont's body is found near Mrs. Bramson's house with her head cut off. The arrival of Dan and Ms. Chalfont's murder seems like a coincidence, but there is something wrong. Among the few items of luggage that Dan brings with him, one is a hat box that had been deliberatly sealed. It's only a little thing, about the size of a soccer ball, but it's......rather heavy.
