QUESTING PAGE
These posts cover the topic of remorting pretty well:
Hello all. I have seen a lot of people screw up on remorting, and this
can be very painful to both themselves and their clan. So here are some
friendly reminders/pointers for everyone, to make the transition easier.
1) Before remorting, make sure you know what remort race you want to be,
and make sure it is 1 remort higher than your current remort. Otherwise
if you choose a race the same remort level as your current remort, you will
just be repeating 100 levels over again with no progress :(.
2) Be aware that certain remort lines have certain classes associated with
them that are 'perfect jobs' for that race. If you choose a class that is
not a 'perfect job' for your race, say something that is only an 'excellent
choice' for that race, you take at LEAST a 10% EXPERIENCE PENALTY. That means
it will take you at least 10% longer to get to level 100. See Griffe for
reference on the pain. It's not worth it.
3) Before you remort, DROP your claimed items at clan recall or GIVE them to
someone to hold. DO NOT REMORT WITH CLAIMED ITEMS ON YOU OR THEY WILL BE LOST.
That said, also drop your silver/gold, don't want to lose that upon remorting
either. QP are kept when you remort, but that is it. And sell your shares..they disappear
upon remorting.
4) For the first few remorts, your race will cost less than 50 creation points.
So you will want to add some skills up until you have EXACTLY 50 creation
points. Good skills are parry and dual wield, and dodge maybe too. Anyways,
once you get to 3rd or 4th remort, your race will cost more than 50 cp, so
DO NOT TAKE ANY SKILLS OR SPELLS.
4a) ALWAYS CUSTOMIZE upon choosing your skills. Otherwise, you get stuck
with an EXPENSIVE class default collection of skills , some of which you
probably don't even want! Past 4th remort, all you need to do is choose to
customize, and then type done.
4b) Brief note on why to take 50 creation points, not 40. At level 90, your
experience needed to level goes up an ungodly amount. If you keep 50 creation
points, you can GAIN POINTS at your trainer ONCE per level, starting at 90.
This has the effect of lowering your exp per level to a reasonable amount. Note
that at higher level remorts this is a must. For remorts 0-2, the difference
between this method or taking only 40 creation points is ...similar in time.
Time to get to 100. Note that is you are evil alignment though, there are very
few mobs to level off of from 90-100, so you might want to take 50 cp. If you
go good, ghosts and hounds plus a 4x from Kayal can make it not so painful
even if you have only 40 points. But I would recommend everyone take 50 cp,
good habit.
5) Ok now you have remorted, have 50 creation points, and have retrieved your
claimed items. First thing to do is to get your creation points down to 50
if you have more (due to having a costly remort race). After that, train wis
and con to max, followed by int, dex, and str. From there, you are on your
own!
Hope this helps.
Valkyl
Well, first off for those of you who are coming up on their first remort...or
whatnot...thank Valkyl for taking the time to write up that note. Would've
helped if it had been on the boards when I first remorted...er make
that the second time I remorted ::Grins::. Anyways, my name was mentioned
in the case of choosing perfect class or some other class when remorting. First
and foremost, I don't think of it as a pain. Yes it will take longer for me to
reach that Remort 15 mark...but there are things to look at other than perfect
class/other class. One being..does the class fit your character's personality
that being if you wish to rp with your character. Second off, before beginning
the remort process, take a look at which exact level specific skills/spells
that you want are given. I chose Necro...do to the fact that it fits Griffe's
persona and because with the Necro class, I can gain Cure critic at level 33
...compare that to Thief (Felarian perfect class), and I get a persona that
doesn't fit Griffe...and I don't get cure critic until level 100...leaving even
more pain if I had chosen to remain a thief ::Sticks his tongue out at Valkyl::
I'm happy just the way I am. So just don't go picking perfect class...
...perfect class. Sometimes it just doesn't fit.
Second...about gaining points to bring cps down to 50. Well there
still hasn't been a consensus of wheter to gain points first or up the wisdom
train first, so to get more practices..and thereby get more trains. So choose
whichever you think is best I suppose....upping the Wisdom trait/train....or
gaining points. ;)
That be all ;) And remember....thank Valkyl for that note...it helps.
Griffe....Griffey....Heya heya person ;P
