48. Samuel Alexander Denny

Samuel Alexander was the fifth child of Dr. William Henry Denny and Susan Gayle Denny. He graduated with a law degree from the University of Virginia, and first settled in Crockett where he married Mary Louise Tenney on 18 Oct 1891. After four years they first moved to Archer City and then to Henrietta, where he was elected County Judge at both locations. In 1910, five years after the death of his wife, Judge Denny moved back to Crockett and opened a law office with Judge J.W. Madden, as Madden and Denny , and located over the First national bank building. He continued to practice law until his retirement in 1945 when he moved to Wichita Falls, Texas to be with his children. He taught the men's class of the First Presbyterian Church for many years, and was an elder of that church.
