"Fairfield Recorder February 10, 1977 Funeral Services for Mrs. F.E. Hill Jr. were held Thursday 3, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Donald ? pastor of the church, Rev Tom Hiser, pastor of the First Baptist Church, and Rev D.Dewey Morgan , former pastor of Cavalry Church and presently serving as pastor of Caney Baptist Church officiated. Interment was in Fairfield Cemetery. Mrs. Hill born Emma Richardson on Nov 13, 1887 in Buffalo was the late wife of F.E. Hill Jr., pioneer rancher and farmer in Freestone County. Mrs. Hill father, Dr. Alexander Richardson, came to Leon County from Sumpter County Alabama in 1858. Her mother Nancy Ann Clark Richardson died when she was five years of age and she was reared by Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Cotten who operated a hotel in Fairfield for many years. Mrs. Hill was married to Mr. Hill on Jan 2, 1910 and he preceded her in death on April 17, 1912. The couple had made their home in Fairfield since their marriage. Mrs. Hill began teaching in public schools at Stewards Mill when she was 16. Jerry A. Steward and Hugh B. Steward were amongst her students. She also taught in public schools at Bowie, Teague, Pyburn and Fairfield. In Fairfield, some of her students included P.D. Browne, retired professor of mathmatics and religion at Baylor University and former superintendent of schools in Fairfield who makes his home in Waco; C.E. Childs, retired president and chairman of the board of Fairfield State Bank and Lynn Wooldridge, retired lumber dealer, both of Fairfied. Mrs. Hill was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and a charter member of the History Club. Survivors include three sons, Frederick Hill, Richard Hill, and Suel Hill all of Fairfield; four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren; and one sister Mrs. Maggie Black of Teague and many friends. Pallbearers were L.J. Davis, Johnnie Hill, Hugh B. Reed Jr., Zack Stroud, C.L. Mullen, G.W. Gibson, Glendale Black and Curtis Freeman. Capps Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."

"Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in Teague for Maggie Black, 98, of Teague who died Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Harris Methodist Mexia Hospital.
Mrs. Black was born March 14, 1891, at Buffalo, lived in Freestone county all her life and lived in Teague since 1951. She was a retired school teacher and rancher, member of the Methodist church, taught Sunday school for 75 years and was a member of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Black was married to Benjamin Blain Black, who died in 1951. Services ,were’ conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church· with the Rev. Lester Ruth, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was at Dew Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John B.Black, Laurin Black, Jr., Mercer Black, Steve' Gilliam; Chuck Gilliam, Kevin Black and Jim Boseman: Honorary pallbearers were Astil Lancaster, Carl Smith, Travis Webb, J.W. Gregson, Anna Gray
Bray and Ruel Wilson.

Mrs. Black is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Laurin and Dorothy Black of Pasadena; a son in-law, Emory Partin of Teague; a daughter-in-law, Ora Lee Black of Teague; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 15 great great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Ricks funeral Home of Teague."
