Mrs. Beldin was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry; her parents, George and Ethel Sterling; a sister-in-law, Loretta Blackmon of Mexia; brothers - Connard Sterling, Alton Sterling, Glynn Sterling and John Henry Sterling; grandchildren Gary and Cary Holder, and a great-grandchild, Madison Ochoa. Pallbearers are Brian Holder, Joe Beldin, Cody Woodall, Michael Hall, Billy Kitchens and Joseph Grams. Honorary pallbearers are Ricky Blackmon and Kirk Holder. conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in First Baptist Church. Officiating
will be the Rev. Steven Schulte, pastor. Burial will be in Wortham Cemetery,
under direction of Porter Chapel-Wortham. Mrs. Sterling, born in Mexia on Aug. 29, 1934, died Tuesday at her residence.
She was a member of South McKinney Street Baptist Church of Mexia, and was a
retired Certified Nurses Aide. Family visitation is scheduled for this evening from 6 until 9 o'clock in
Porter Chapel-Wortham. Mrs. Sterling was preceded in death by her father, William Patrick Smith, and
by an infant son, Gary Wayne Sterling. Surviving are her husband, Sammie Clayton Sterling of Wortham; five daughters -

"Nelda Lou Blackmon, 76, of Mexia, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013, in Mexia. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Pastor Earl Sterling officiating. Interment will follow in the Tehuacana Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Nelda was born in Bremond, Texas, to the late George Minyard and Ethel Wiley Sterling. She had been a resident of Mexia for 60 years. Nelda married Fred Joseph Blackmon on April 24, 1953 in Mexia, Texas. Nelda loved anything that pertained to sewing; quilting, embroidering, crocheting, and knitting. She enjoyed riding country roads, chasing rabbits and garage sales. Nelda also loved to play softball, and did until she was over 50; this included playing on teams with her grown daughters for several years. Her passion for life was enjoying it to the fullest with her family and friends. She was a member of Wortham Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Alton, Maurice, Virgil, and John Earl Sterling; sister, Naomi Beldin; and sons-in-law, Glen Rogers and Jerry Duke. Nelda is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Fred Blackmon; sons, Ricky Blackmon and wife, Dixie, and Joey Blackmon; daughters, Georgenia "Gena" Duke, Debra Rogers and husband, Richard, Scarlet Floyd and husband, Jace, and Charlotte Cook and husband; Ty; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Sammy Sterling; many other relatives and friends."3Find A Grave Records, www.findagrave.com, Find A Grave Memorial# 114803410, Aug 2 2013.

"Fred Joseph Blackmon, 84, passed away January 5, 2015 in Mexia. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Bro. Earl Sterling officiating. Interment will follow in the Tehuacana Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Fred was born March 5, 1930 in Malakoff, Texas to Thomas Jefferson and Naomi Ray Blackmon. He worked for Mexia Textile, after they closed, as a mechanic and Mexia ISD school cross guard. Fred proudly served his country in the National Guard Army. On April 24, 1953, Fred married the love and light of his life, Nelda Lou Sterling. They were blessed with six children, Ricky, Georgenia, Debra, Scarlet, Charlotte and Joey. Fred always had a smile and hello for everyone he met; he truly had a passion for life and lived it to the fullest. He looked forward to family gatherings, his love for his family was very evident. Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing dominoes and cards, pitching washers and horseshoes, music and dancing. He also loved football, baseball and had a great time coaching softball, especially the team on which his wife and daughters all played. Fred was a member of the South McKinney Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 60 years, Nelda Blackmon; brothers, W. O. Blackmon and Darrell Blackmon; and sister, Maxine Sterling. Fred is survived by his children, Ricky Dale Blackmon, Georgenia Lynn “Genia” Duke, Debra Starr Rogers, Scarlet Ann Floyd, Charlotte Darlene Cook and Joey Lonel Blackmon; grandchildren, Ricky Blackmon, Jr., Nikia Duke Benford, Jaree Loper, Tia Leger, Misty Morrow, William Rogers, Jimmy Rogers, Dale Rogers, David Rogers, Nathan Rogers, Sheena Shaw, Bobby Carroll, Kimberly Noey, Joey Blackmon, Jr. Jasmine Blackmon and Harley Cook; brother, Thomas J. Blackmon, Jr.; sister, Helen Scarpa; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ricky Blackmon, Jr., William Rogers, David Rogers, Nathan Rogers, Bobby Carroll and Clayton Loper.
