"James Howard Cook, 84, of Temple, passed away, December 28, 2011 at a local hospital. A funeral service will be 1:00pm, Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home, Temple. Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park under the direction of Harper-Talasek Funeral Home. A visitation will be from 11:00am-1:00pm, on Tuesday, prior to the service.James was born July 26, 1927 in Mexia, Texas, the son of the late Desler Cook and Eula Bryant Cook. On May 3, 1947, he married Dorthey Ferrill Cook in Ganado, Texas. She preceded him in death in 2008. He served in the Army during WWII. He retired from Olin E. Teague Veterans Center, as Chief Cook after 34 years.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorthey, son Walter Howard Cook in 2000, and brothers Everett Cook and Birdie Boy.James is survived by his daughters Julie A. Cook- Beck of Coldspring, TX; Adrianne Gail Cook-Purdue of Plano, TX; sons Patrick Lee Cook of Houston; Michael George Cook of San Diego, brother Thomas Lee Cook of Wichita Falls, TX; sister Calla Havas of Dallas, TX; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild, nieces, nephews and friends."2Find A Grave Records, www.findagrave.com, Find A Grave Memorial# 92687735, Jun 27 2012.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 12, at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple with Pastor Don Moore officiating. Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, August 11, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple."

She was the wife of David Beck, with whom she shared 49 blissful years of marriage. Born in McKinney, Texas, she was the daughter of Howard and Dorthey Cook. She attended Temple High School, and was a member of the First Methodist Church.
